Hi all,

Just purchased my first 992 and it has the Porsche tracker. So I now have a tracker fob but no way to fit it a keyring etc. How do you get it on a keyring or carry it?

Just put it in your pocket/wallet, you don’t want it with keys for obvious reasons.

In no way am I being condescending, but I fear you may have misunderstood the reasons for NOT wanting it to be attached to your keyring.

It's not for the car to recognise the key (it already has passive ID), but for the tracker to know the valid driver is present. If someone steals your keys bingo, tracker activates. etc.

What I did with it was get annoyed with it for a year then cancel it and went for Meta Trak S5 which has a small fob that attached to my house keys which are carried separately to my car keys.

Thanks. I have both a 992 and a 460 Range Rover on order. I have so many keys for so many different things just so scrotes find it harder to ruin my day. Can we go back to branding thieves the first time and cutting off limbs after that.

First time I’ve come across this fob. My 992 arrives in a few weeks and not yet looked into a tracker. From reading this thread, am I right that if you activate the built in tracker with Vodafone you have to carry this fob also? That’s a right pain in the harris!

What are the alternatives? No tracker I guess. Are there third party trackers that maybe use your phone? Guess I should start googling.

Once upon a time we used a key to stop someone nicking your car. Now we need a key and a fob. Next stage will be a second fob surgically implanted up your backside incase someone nicks your keys and finds your first fob.

I have a BGTS 4.0 also with a Porsche/Vodafone tracker its a different shape but it still doesnt really fit in a wallet , as someone said sometimes i put it in the coin pocket of my jeans but worry that i will forget and it will end up in washing machine , it does say on paperwork you specifically should not put on ring with car keys

Tracker monitor needs no fob. Unless they have changed in the last few years. Always check.

Wow this is difficult!

Here is a quick guide.

1. Put Fob in pocket before driving car.
2. Remove Fob from pocket after driving car.
