997.1 PCM2.1 bluetooth install
Discussion
My job for this evening is installing a Bluetooth adaptor behind the PCM unit of my new (to me) 997.1 I decided not to go the whole hog of replacing the head unit to keep it original looking.
Th unit needs a 12v switched supply. Could anyone point me in the direction of where best to find this behind a 997. dash?
Also the car has the phone prep with a sim card slot. Apparently you need to bypass the telephone module with a fibre optic loop (which I have.) Is this module under the drivers seat or somewhere else?
Thank you very much.

I think some use the cigarette lighter, I just ran a longer wire to the fuse box with a fused connector (something like this) https://www.halfords.com/tools/fuses-electricals-a...
That way you keep a fuse on the PCM and the bluetooth connector and you don't cut any original wiring, then just run the black cable to a screw that connects to metal.

Thanks,
In the end I used the 12V socket in the passenger footwell as that was conveniently close. The current draw from the Bluetooth unit is tiny and there is plenty of spare capacity I think.
Interesting that the accessory sockets are non-switched on the 997, on every other car I have had they are switched.

It was the P600 by Mr12Volt (weird name but they seem a reputable company) https://www.mr12volt.com
Installation was pretty easy, you have to buy an additional fibre optic loop to disable the car phone module under your driver's seat if you have one, but once installed it replaces the 6 disc CD changer and you can treat music. The display shows track info and you can use the forward/ back track buttons etc. the sound quality is really good, miles better than the cheapo bluetooth devices you can buy on eBay. The phone works ok, although the sound quality of that is not as good for some reason, I'm try gin to see if there is something I need to change to improve it, but overall I'm very happy with it, it's a lot cheaper than a full CarPlay head unit and keeps the stock look which I like.
