Morning all.

I’m aware there’s an active topic on car seats for children but the booster seat discussion doesn’t help me so I thought I’d start a fresh topic. Hopefully that’s ok.

I have an 18 month old and a 997. I’m looking for child seat options suitable for her. I know the car isn’t ISOFIX so I’m looking for recommendations.

Having done some Googling, it seems to be the case that toddlers shouldn’t sit in the front until they’re older. How do those of you with toddlers enjoy your car with them? I was assuming the airbag could be deactivated on the passenger side. Is this enough, or should I forget her sitting in the front?

Finally, this is possibly a very silly question, but are there any child seat options that could work with a Recaro Pole Position ABE? I have a pair in the car at the moment. If not, I’m happy to remove the passenger one and replace for standard so my daughter can come for a drive with me.

Any advice is great full received. clap

I think they should be rear facing at that age? I have a 996 and didn't use the Porsche until my kids (now 3 and 5) were a bit older.

I use the Halfords Essential seats which fit neatly into the rear. Both are forward facing.

No ability to disable the passenger airbag in my car so wouldn't put them in the front.

She’s forward facing (advised from 15 months) in her ISOFIX car seat in our other car, but it is i-size if that makes a difference?

I had a 996 long time ago and was able to buy a child seat from Porsche dealership.. They had to install a part in the car which deactivated the front passenger airbags when the child seat was in use. These seats may still be available maybe enquire a porsche dealership. Thanks

This appears to be ISOFIX. I should clarify my 997 is a pre facelift .1 so doesn’t have ISOFIX.

Has anyone got any first hand experience using this?

https://www.design911.co.uk/fu/prod148166/Airbag-d...

It looks like it introduces ISOFIX which would be ideal for my 997.1. Does it work with any ISOFIX seat or is it only the Porsche one mentioned in the link?

I used a Cybex Cloud Z in the back on my 997 Cabrio until my daughter was 18 months (she is little for her age), backwards-facing but it rendered the passenger front seat unusable.

I have now swapped to a Halfords Essentials 1/2/3 which is forward-facing but she can fit behind the driver seat. I haven't had to bother removing the seat base or back but when legroom becomes an issue those can be removed to free up more space.

Mind you, the Cabrio has a more upright seat back and so this is the worst case scenario, there'll be more room in other variants.

I have a seat that fits the 997 back seats perfectly. Britax romer. Just remove base cushion and secure with belts. The seat as integrated 3 point belts. Snug and doesn’t rub anywhere. PM me if interested.

Available for free as I no longer own the 997.

There is an isofix kit available from Porsche which includes the isofix bar for the folding seats. I just installed the "passenger airbag off" lock and used a "maxi cosi" seat that is fixed with the normal seat belt which fit the recaros fine! Centre Console needs to come out to fix the airbag off warning light. Airbag then needs to be off obviously...
