996 Factory GT3 RS cage & foam
Discussion
can anyone please advise?
firstly rear genuine cage in my 04 6rs is black, the front bolt in cage is white... is this normal? i know the rear cage being white was an option.
secondly, the foam on the front cage has deteriorated badly.. apart from being a pain in the ar*e to remove, i understand it is NLA from Porsche. Any suggestion where i can get the same/similar to replace?
cheers!

Sounds like a previous owner found a used front cage in white, I’d be inclined to remove it all and get it painted matt black to match.firstly rear genuine cage in my 04 6rs is black, the front bolt in cage is white... is this normal? i know the rear cage being white was an option.

As for the foam, while the cage is out you could add the foam yourself. On the cars we build, we use a self adhesive 3mm foam wrapped around the bars where you want it, and then apply heat shrink sleeve over the top, with a 50mm overlap on the length to allow for shrinkage. Depending on where you want to apply it, you may be able to slide the heatshrink down the leg and over the top of the foam, but if you can’t, then slit the heatshink sleeve, then use superglue to join it back. Place the seam to face an area where the join can’t be seen. It can be a bit fiddly, and you need to experiment to get it to conform around bends in the tubing, but it’s a very satisfying job to get right.
