Porsche 992 GT3 - Track driving - Owner reviews
Discussion
Hi, I am interested to know about your experiences of track driving with your 992 GT3´s. Everything from setup, modifications, driving experience and technique etc.
Here is my input and first impressions after the first few trackdays and the latest visit to the Nürburgring is that it is a completely new ballgame, at least for me having driven mainly track focused 964´s and 996´s and a 718 GT4 PDK. The speed the car builds take some getting used to and also the driving input needs to be adjusted to utilize the potential of the car. I have also tried some different wheel alignment setup but the latest one really transformed the car.
If you have the time, here's is my thoughts more in detail 992 GT3 on the Nürburgring Nordschleife https://youtu.be/aIHdibO_6G8

I watched this video and referenced it in the 992 RS thread the other day as i thought it was brilliant and very much respect the honest perspective you have put across - given that you do have quite a lot of track driving experience especially in the older cars and then moving into the newer ones... That tyre wear; front looks okay, but rear looks something akin to insufficient camber and or slight overinflation.
Geo being slightly out would result in higher temps and thereby pressure. The comments about the double-wishbone front being strong enough to cause the rear to un-stick is interesting and perhaps borne out by the wear.
I was passenger in a (very well driven) 991.2 GT3 RS at Donington last month. Closely following a (nowhere near so well driven) 992 GT3, at several points you could see the rear transition to oversteer between entry and apex.

And if you don't mind me saying, very good English for a non-native person.

I was going to say the opposite! The outside of the rear tyre looks untouched (so rear camber is OK) whereas the front has a lot of outside wear (but still not overly uneven), so perhaps a touch more front camber would be optimal. But agreed on possible overinflation on the rear.

Would tend to agree with this. But agreed on possible overinflation on the rear.
Watching those sort of videos usually makes me feel nauseous and give up about 30 seconds in, but that was very smooth driving and good camera set up. Looks like you are having fun and enjoying upping your game to make the best of the car. Enjoy and stay safe, look forwards to the next installment.

Not sure if I’ve confused things with my tyre pics.
Those are both passenger side tyres, most tracks obviously clockwise.
Wear looks appropriate to me based on compound and physics. One positive for me is front and rear wear rates about the same. In my GT4s I’d do two sets of fronts to one set of rears due to understeer.
Compounds vary across the tyre:

Personally didn’t see much unexpected with the wear… given the various compounds and designated wear ratings across the surface.
Just looked like Pete had used the tyre right down to its last possible run.. tread depth wise.
How was the grip or were they also heat cycled out?

Finished them off at Anglesey and they were certainly pretty greasy, probably cycled out after 5 days. Good fun though. Deep breath before Church and lift off oversteer on tap to get round the rocket left right.Personally didn’t see much unexpected with the wear… given the various compounds and designated wear ratings across the surface.

New boots for PCGB Oulton and hoping for decent weather. Might have a touch more camber too.
