Hi all - trying to understand the practicality of getting ppf on the new 911. Car will be at the dealership on 5/12/22, PPF and ceramic coating was booked in July but car was delayed. The ppf gyus have made time to do ppf on 12/12/22. So what should happen? I take the delivery of the car on 5th December and then take it to detailers on 12th December - may get some stone chips in the mean time. Detailers saying that OPC can deliver the car to them and take the delivery of the car from them, this mean the OPC would not be handing over the car and any faults checks etc can not be logged at the time of delivery. Sorry it may be a naive question but never had ppf on a new car before and want to know what others do and how does this work out from practicality point of view. Thanks

How far from the dealer to the detailer?

I was in the same boat as you earlier in the year and decided to delay my collection so I collected and dropped off at detailer on the same day. You’ve waited this long, what’s another week?! I gave myself a couple of hours to enjoy the car, think I put on 14 miles before I dropped it off but it was a nice day and decided the probability of a stone chip was pretty minimal.

A mate in a similar situ but with a longer journey to the detailer did his collection at the dealer and then left the car there and paid for them to ship it to the detailer in a covered car transporter. He then collected from the detailer when it was ready.

Hopefully your detailer isn’t too far away as despite being extremely happy with the work, mine has been back and forth a few times for pretty minor stuff which is a right faff and faff I wouldn’t have had to endure had I not applied PPF. To be honest they are things I would never have bothered with but when you have paid £5/6k for PPF you want it perfect and go down that warren of being anal. Wouldn’t mind ridding myself if that. Anyway, apologies, I’ve gone off on a tangent.

Use an enclosed trailer. This is what I did on the same day for collection, I also didn't allow the dealer to prep the car.
