Hi all,

I usually have a peek as to what the 997 market is doing and if anything in an interesting colour comes up - it rarely does. Also, I feel I'm now past the buyers remorse stage of ownership, so it's good to look around.

Anyway, I keep seeing this car:
https://www.autotrader.co.uk/car-details/202211241...

I'm sure it's the same one each time, and being a gen 2 I'd have thought it'd sell easily? Sure, the miles are a bit high, but the DFI engine is solid right? At the price, I wonder if it's worth copping in my 997.1 for it - but it should have gone already right?

If i was in the market....
No sport chrono. comfort seats, not an inspiring colour combo, advert doesn't list options so the seller isn't an enthusiast, higher road tax band.
If you have 30k you've probably got 35 for a better spec.

I'd rather pay 40k for seal grey with sports seats and sport chrono.

I had a 991 in a spec that didn't suit me because the deal was good and i never fell for it. If it had been macadamia metallic brown with coco interior and sunroof i probably would have it now.
Just my way of thinking.

What does sport chrono do on a manual 997.2, more instant pedal response?

I really like the look of that. Is this a sign of prices softening?

I'm sure it's been for sale for a long time... I think the price has dropped but also been low 30's from memory. Likewise, I do not mind the spec other than the lack of sport seats...

Nothing much, linear throttle response and loosens off the stability control - it still has the PASM button, so you can still break your spine in sport mode wink I'd not miss it I think.

Probably because it has 100K miles with no mention of any history.
Also has use of exclamation marks in advert.

Not an overly informative advert and used $ sign instead of £. Excessive use of exclamation marks. Use of “staged” photos instead of pics at “home”. How many folk put their real mobile number in a private advert for WhatsApp messages? No pics of FSH documentation?

Other than that go in with eyes wide open and take a detailed look……..

I'm in the market for something 997-shaped soon, and have a number of saved searches. This one doesn't appear as it's above the mileage threshold i'd set, but having seen it for the first time i'd say what is holding it back is:

mileage (and needs more detail of history)
council-style trend of the vendor photo-ing themselves in cargo shorts at the steering wheels
don't think that blue is a popular colour.

Chrono doesn't matter so much in the non-Turbo cars, it does almost nothing and I'd imagine it would never get used, Shame it's missing the PSE but not a massive deal breaker.

I think a number starting with a 2 would see it sold in no time, but it will find its level. I'd guess if the vendor put a bit more effort into the advert it may even sell at close to asking price now.

That reads like a trader ad to me. What private seller starts an advert "Happy New Year's Big Sale Price".

If I was in the market for one of these, I'd instantly disregard this one because of the way the advert is written. It just screams dodgy driveway trader.

As stated, mileage is over 100k, grey interior not popular, write up being very poor, and now to cap it off ridiculous price increase, adverts a joke

The silver one is a bargain because it's a Cat D, it'd be well over £40k if it wasn't a Cat D.
Manual 997.2 S with good history and only 47k miles? Definitely in the 40's.

The blue one is mainly a crap advert. A better advert with more details on provenance would achieve over £30k i reckon.
