A lot of sense spoken in that, although many would still pick the GT3 if given the opportunity.

As a 992 GTS owner I do wonder sometimes is there really a need for something so quick, and maybe the 'T' is the answer. That said, I'll still be pushing my OPC for a GT3 slot on the Gen 2 GT3, albeit the odds are not great clearly.

In the UK we are limited by poor roads and speed limits so absolutely a base 911 or T is enough for most drivers. As I am living in Germany for a few years I found the base on a test drive not that fast and also not much quicker than my BMW M135i so I went for a GTS. The GTS is significantly more dynamic in all respects than my BMW and comes with a visceral edge and of course the poser 911 looks that attract a lot of favourable attention. Oddly enough insurance for the 2 is the same - BMW M135i is a high risk car in Germany favoured by many young drivers with a tendency to damage or write them off, hence the high risk. However, it is not all foot to the floor as the autobahn is in full holiday season at the moment full of tourists and especially Dutch drivers and their caravans.

Interest take on the GT3 Touring on the road being too firm. I have read a few reviews suggesting that the GTS was too stiffly sprung too although I didn’t find that on test drive. This review is just making me look forward to my Gentician Blue GTS turning up next month!

Try a cheaper 991.2 GT3 and 991.2 Carrera T before you consider any of these.

My local OPC was telling me they have bought back loads of the GTS they sold as the owners (many who wanted an S but couldn’t get one) found them far too stiff for UK Roads.

After I sold my 991.2 C2S last month I’ve been mostly running around in my Elise Cup 250. I’m sure the 992 GTS will feel like a luxo-barge in comparison, I’m not worried about the ride quality.

WRT the GT3, is that really a surprise?

Surely most ultra hi-performance cars have become too big, too stiff, too fast and too expensive to be truly enjoyable, especially on the UK’s decrepit, speed enforced public roads.

Sadly, the road and weather depicted in the video are the exception rather than the rule.

I think the answer here is European road trips. Billiard table flat, much much less traffic, twisties for miles, endless route choices.

Yes you have to get on the ferry or Euro tunnel, but I suspect most 911’s are miserable driving in UK.

I don’t live in the UK bit visit and drive there a few times a year, I live on a small island with a 35mph speed limit! Europe is on the doorstep and I make the most of every trip, it is far superior to the UK but requires a degree of effort to access, but the effort is worth it.

GT3s are very adjustable - and come out of the box in different states per car. A trip to CG is the answer unless one is looking for a much more relaxing car

There are zillions of great roads all over England including the south. Does anybody complaining about the roads actually get outside the M25?

Nothing CG is going to do about the spring and damper rates by fiddling with the geo.

You could change the springs and dampers, but that applies to any 911.

This. I’m new to 911 ownership albeit a lowly 997.1 C2. But these cars are about how they make you feel not whether they make sense, are practical, ride the road and bumps better. That GT3 Touring was visceral, had the 9k redline, the speed and the super sharp turn-in. It would feel more special than any of the other cars even crashing over bumps.

If I could afford a GT3 would I give it up for a Carrera T because it didn’t ride the bumps? No way, Jose. I’d change the dampers and springs and enjoy the rest of the car. Simples.

I drove a few 992gts models ,I can’t compare them to the 992 gt3 as I haven’t driven one ,but compared to the 991.2gt3 I found them incredibly fast but dull and they offered a fraction of the (let’s call it ) experience .

I agree, especially in Touring guise.

After over a dozen 911's including air cooled RS and GT cars, it's my favorite. Still feels and looks like a 911, and as adept at road trips as it is at track days.

Went to Skye last August with one of the dogs, he likes it to:

Agree with this aswell, even though I'm only months into mine, having samlped many 911's over the years, this one feels the like skunk works version, especially the manual music

I am very happy with my 991.1 GT3, even if I wanted a 992 GT3 touring or otherwise 'I'm not important' enough to buy one new and that doesn't fit that well with me. I'd never pay over list out of Principal in any case. I Waited 3 years to find the right spec and the right mileage to buy and I waited until it was under list. That was galling enough. I wont do that again.

I'm actually delighted to see the T lives up to it's design philosophy and in many ways it does look like it's the thinking enthusiasts 911, well done Porsche, shame it isn't 100kg less in weight.

I’m thinking this as well and suspect that it’s what I’ll go for when my kids are too big for the back seats of a 911.

I have driven the 992 GT3 on the road and I didn’t find it too firm, despite that being the word on the street. The problem was how hard it was to access the power band. Also, it’s so flat everywhere. With the chassis so locked down when set against the relatively low mid range torque, the car is just teasing you. I think it’s wasted unless there are going to be opportunities to let fly.

those here agree with you, no idea, I never driven a GT3, but I like the Touring version, also never driven, but a GT3 without shouting wings :-)
