Currently driving a Audi RS38Y previously owned a Alpine A110 but with the demise of ICE I've been fancying a Carrera S (two/three year old) low mileage as a long term keeper and everyday car, what are the general running costs mpg, tyre life, servicing etc, and do owners stay with Porsche for servicing after three years or switch to a Independent Porsche specialist to save on cost? what extras are a must? and are there any known problems to look out for with this series. Been following the ads for a few months and even low mileage one owner cars don't seem to be selling is this down to the current cost of living crisis or unrealistic pricing, web. valuation prices are well under the advertised price.

I ran a 992S for 3years and found it a rewarding car
to own/drive that could do track days and touring trips without
any problems or extra expense
service costs, £1000 for 2year and £1500 for 4 year at OPC
Once out of warranty an extended warranty from the OPC is a wise move
Fuel consumption between 22 and 35 depending on driving style
is usual and the 8 speed DCT can be both an economical cruise
and in sport plus quite quick
My best advice is to treat yourself to a PEC day and see how the
S performs. Frankly it’s more competent and easier to live with
than the 991.2GT3 is

Porsche autos are PDK not DCT. PDK is an excellent gearbox if uninvolving but personal choice would dictate which box you choose. Depending on the model of 911, I generally prefer manuals in an increasingly diluted world where autos will be the only option in the near future.
Basic Carrera S a touch bland tbh so consider perhaps a GTS or T.Try a GT3 also they are great cars and more compliant than you might think.
As ever spend at least half a day with each model drive your favourite road which is the only way to decide which model you will truly gel with.

Apologies for the DCT blunder!
It’s interesting you find the 992 somewhat bland
and obviously opinions vary and equally valid
I’m not sure how long/ what mileage you’re GT3
experience covers but as a daily I found the 992
S much easier to live with and created less attention .
which I value

Not a blunder at all. PDK is a DCT; you’re right. Just Porsche’s german name for it as above.
Carrera S a nice car. Do try a few and see what you like but watch the specs carefully. You might find you like one Carrera S but not another so important to understand why. Eg some have sports suspension; others don’t. Similarly some will have high tyre pressures, or old tyres.
Enjoy finding out. You won’t go very far wrong in my view :-)

had a brand new 992 gts recently and hated the -10pasm chassis with a passion on UK roads. tried a 992 S just to compare and thought, this is the car i should have bought. Alas, and contrary to OP, i bought an Alpine A110 gt and over the moon with it.
It's such a shame that Porsche salesmen don't understand and convey just how different the -10mm PASM is on the GTS, when they can also be ordered with the normal suspension at no cost. The spring rate is nearly doubled, fine if you're buying a GTS as a GT3 substitute, but not for buyers who wanted a relatively comfortable daily driver and then find their teeth getting rattled on the terrible British roads.

Is the spring rate similar on the 911.2 GTS? I was under the impression with 991.2 it was just lowered???The spring rate is nearly doubled, fine if you're buying a GTS as a GT3 substitute, but not for buyers who wanted a relatively comfortable daily driver and then find their teeth getting rattled on the terrible British roads.

I don't know about the 991.2, but I know on the 992 it was and a lot of people have moaned about it.You can see the 992 spring rates at 5:49 on this video https://youtu.be/rvapkpuH6f0?feature=shared
