Best time of the year to grab a bargain on a used 992?
Discussion
Hi guys,
Im in the market for a fairly new 'low mileage' used Porsche 992 base Carrera
When do you think would be the best time of the year to grab a bargain on a 992 Coupe? I was thinking maybe mid December when activity is low with these types of cars, people busy with Christmas and winter season so not much buyer activity? Or maybe in the New Year??
Any other months that you guys recommend??

I'd wait until next year if you want to see prices dropping.
But if you want the car, near year end could be a good time.
Yes i've heard that the 992.2 is due to be released around Spring next year so that may affect the prices of 992.1 and im guessing the prices could drop further next year but to be honest I'm ready to buy now and have been waiting quite a while so may just take the plunge on something I like. But if you want the car, near year end could be a good time.
When you say year end, should I be looking just after Christmas then? Maybe Boxing Day onwards? Or wait until New Years? Im guessing quarter end and year end would be late December to grab the best bargain? Or later in January/February when it is really cold and no one wants sports cars??

Mid December.
The big PLC dealers will be trying to get their stock holding down for year end accounts and porsche will be pushing them for new car regs as well with pre regs
So would you say before Christmas or just after? I’d be looking at a used 992 with low mileage, so I’m guessing this sort of thing would be in their inventory of stock holding that they would want to reduce down for year end accounts? The big PLC dealers will be trying to get their stock holding down for year end accounts and porsche will be pushing them for new car regs as well with pre regs

I’ve found a couple with specs that I like, hope they are still around by then. If not, I’m sure they’ll be plenty still around in Dec.

Where would you expect to find a base model new 992 with no extras and a 20k discount?[/quote

In all seriousness Id just keep a close eye on the porsche uk web site as occasionally cars come up that are being sold below market.
992 wise theres a 4 y/o 22k mile gt silver for £81.5k and a 3 y/o 13.5k mile red car for £86k - both appear ok value, particularly the silver one
If buying a car outside of manufacturer new car warranty then i'd buy from a main dealer.

What I am saying is that £20k,(maybe even less) is not enough of a discount for me not to want a brand new one.
I think it’s worth paying to have a brand new car and be the first owner.

Agreed, I was replying to prior comment made by another that he'd buy a new one with that budget - which he wouldn't as you can't.

Cool, thanks for the heads up in regards to keeping a close eye on the Porsche UK website. May I ask, does the Porsche website show vehicles that are not advertised on Autotrader??In all seriousness Id just keep a close eye on the porsche uk web site as occasionally cars come up that are being sold below market.

If you are buying on a PCP it may be worth looking at the C2S as well. The increased residuals sometimes mean the monthly payment is the virtually the same as a base Carrera with the same deposit but a on a more expensive car. I found this to be the case when I bought my C2S from a Porsche main dealer in April.

Hmmm...intresting, I didn't realise that the residuals are better on a C2S. Yeah, i'd be looking to put down around £60k and the rest on a loan or possibly PCP, depending on the rates available. I want to own the car outright within around 3-4 years, so not sure on the best option for me.Gassing Station | 911/Carrera GT | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
