Not many people are likely to buy the whole collection are they !
So if someone wants one or two it needs to be cheap enough to sell some off and not lose anything, then what about the transporter ? Plus the finance cost and risk factored in, it needs to be cheap.
The collector needs to think this through and sell individually and then have another dream as if someone does buy the lot they will need to factor in the potential losses and hassle of selling off individually. You'd have thought anyone with enough money to build this collection would have some idea.....
Anyway I thought he'd just built his dream, or if that's now shattered and he needs to sell ALL he's even more illogical, desperation needs some thinking about packaging me thinks.....
Unless ofcoure someone is looking for this exact collection, now that's erm - highly likely isnt it

What a delightfully positive and insightful post. So if someone wants one or two it needs to be cheap enough to sell some off and not lose anything, then what about the transporter ? Plus the finance cost and risk factored in, it needs to be cheap.

I echo the first poster's word - crikey. An excellent collection, the new owner will be chuffed to bits I'm sure.
I know I might be negative but the reality here is the owner has never driven any of the cars, how on earth he was able to get new cars to get this collection together, I don't know 50km unused cars ? Err wait cash. This is an architect playing with cash for aesthetics and possibly, but probably not passion as he's never driven one of them as far as I can see.
So why would anyone want to follow on with this set of cars ? Because a real estate architect chose them, decided to add a transporter ? I do think it's cool if that's his dream, but it was and no longer is, he's moved or moving on.
I have a 991 GT3 so love the cars, it's the idea that his 'package' of unused assembled vehicles is somehow a one off package. That's the negativity I have Boys Toys says it all doesn't it ? If I had the cash and I don't and the desire for a few more Porsche's and I do I don't want someone to decide the exact 6 for me and add a transporter. I suspect I am not alone

If someone was starting a collection I'd advise them to start with the air cooled RS from 72 up to the 996 GT3 RS maybe 997 GT3 RS too but after that things a bit too modern and mass produced (991r not a bad modern to have if sensible money actually at say £300k). I'd also advise them not to bother unless they enjoy driving and 911s. If this tonka toy set sells as a collection I'll eat my hat.
It all seems a bit pointless to me. Ignoring the Cup car they are all very similar. Great if you want to spend time understanding the nuances of the Porsche 991.2 GT3 chassis in all forms. Clearly not the case here as they have never been used. As a static display object? Bonkers.
A collection of GT3 cars spanning all the generations, now that’s a great idea.
Nice truck though

The issue here is that the cars don’t feel homogeneous or linked in any way. Just bought by someone who loved picking specs for new cars and then building them. I know other people who love the process more than the ownership. Alternatively it may have given the ticket to the other big cars that Porsche sometimes only sells by invitation.
Either way it probably made more sense selling them in ones. Not sure this is that attractive as a package

I saw this a few days ago and I don't think my initial opinion has changed really. I don't get how owning every 991.2 special edition (I guess the R is technically a .1?) is a man's "childhood dream turned into reality". And what dream? To sit around and look at them, given they've never been driven?
It looks more like a man whose free time and money far exceed his imagination.
To anyone other than a gigantic Porsche anorak, they're 6 almost identical cars in different colours.

Fantastic on first glance, but...
All undriven. Sad.
Two race cars. Now out of date and with lifed components. Pointless. Either one would make an amazing track toy, but need proper support and replacement bits, and surely you'd just pick one - probably the Cup as the GT3R will be a lot more work, relatively speaking, and I doubt most amateurs would be able to get the best out of it.
Two manual GT3-based road cars. The 911R is a collectible, sure, but the GT3 Touring does exactly the same job, arguably better.
Two road-legal track toys. What's the GT3 Clubsport for? The 3RS is a vastly better track car - and Weissach pack, no less - and the Touring is the better road choice (or the R). Also, why bother with either when you have a Cup car and a GT3R, and a transporter?
Nothing aircooled, nothing classic? For that kind of money, I would have:
356 Roadster (because no Carrera for that budget), or a 356SC hotrod but then I would say that, wouldn't I?
911 2.7RS
964RS
993RS Touring
997.2 GT3RS
991.2 GT3 Touring (or keep the 911R)
992 Cup Car (replaced every couple of years with one that's trickled down from the Cup itself)
And I'd replace the transporter with a proper race support artic - two car capacity plus tools, spares and changing.
Different strokes for different folks, and his collection is more valuable than mine, but I just don't see the point of duplicating the use cases without some kind of historical context and significant variation between the cars.

It was just on a whim to match a toy he had as a kid as I understand it . All undriven. Sad.

Surely apart from the oil maybe the lifed components are as good as new so still at the start of their lives ?All undriven. Sad.
