992 GT2RS, I seem to remember a couple of magazines did a feature with an artist impression of the 992 GT2RS, 800 BHP etc, about six months ago. Does anyone have an update, are they still planning on making one???

I haven’t heard anything yet but I cannot imagine that Porsche would be dropping the GT2. It’s such a special car and a very different offering to the rest of the 911 lineup. They’re absolutely brutal. It would make sense that the next one will be a mild hybrid with a significant power increase, even more extreme aero with all the latest gizmos; completely pointless unless you’re on track or touring Europe.

I read somewhere an interview with Andy Preuninger where he mentioned that the car seen at the 'ring that looked like a GT3RS but sounded like it was turbocharged was purely a concept on-off. He made it sound like there was no plan for a GT2RS at the moment.

If that’s the case then the 991 variant would be a great buy now. I’ve toured all over Europe with it and a few track days, they’re exhilarating

possibly - I guess that will be a c. 120k premium on list

S/T is 292k base and last RS was 285k 8 years ago (I think), so new RS at about 330k feels about right, possibly even a little more.

"Rumors suggest the RS will make over 700 hp..."

I could have told them that without having to rely on rumors given the power level of the previous version....

I’d be very surprised if it’s less than 800PS. Looking at the vid of mule at the Ring it looks very quick. Like sub 6 mins 30 secs quick! It will be very interesting to see how they cool the thing. I suspect air to water cooling the only way to keep things cool at this power level. Or maybe like the GT3 RS at 500bhp they just call it a day and say 700PS the perfect figure for a GT2 RS. With the hybrid system even at 700PS it will have much more area under the curve and be way quicker than the old car.

at 450k I think people will want to see (at least close to) the 800 hp - can't tell people about your power curve smile

What are thought about when this could come to fruition?

I guess it will depend on if Porsche keeps it cheaper in the UK than in Germany or if they will align prices given they need to make money / might want to get more of the "overs" market.
