Hi has anyone got rid of Bose system in 997 Turbo. My amplifier has died ,I am looking to put a apple type unit , any advice appreciated 👍

I've never owned a 997, but there are a good few installers in the UK who have updated/upgraded the audio system. I had a custom audio install done on my R8 V8 about 10 years ago by Gary Hallwood in Essex - it was the first R8 he had done. I was impressed by his work, but it didn't come cheap as I had a custom subwoofer / amplifier enclosure made.

Take a look at the bottom of the web page below where you will see a YT video of an install he did on a 997 Turbo. Obviously the subwoofer is a custom add-on. If you call him I'm sure he can advise what is achievable with the budget you have. He's done plenty 911s over the years.

I am thinking along that line, as the saving on not buying a amp will go a long way to funding a up to date unit.

Is the factory amp the ‘Ask’ brand like the non-Bise setup?

If so a guy in norway fixes the factory amp for £130. A did this a year or two ago as it was a lot less hassle than considering an aftermarket upgrade (which would escalate to head unit and speakers…).

That's interesting, I would go that route as I am considering selling the car.

If it’s the same Bose set up as the 996 it gets a bit complicated, I believe the speakers are a strange impedance and the amp uses a fibre optic connection, so you may struggle to find an amp to suit, I’d have a chat with Car Audio Security (CAS) they have a good YouTube channel and seem to understand what’s involved
