992 RS TRACKDAY INSURANCE
Discussion
Apologies I’m sure there 1000s of posts on this but in spring 2025 how are people insuring their 3RS’ with trackday cover…apparently been too many crashes last yr and Classicline / Manning’s don’t seem to be able to offer full cover in UK and no viable options for euro tracks….
I’ve been with CL for many years but only 1 option now with £100k max payout….
Any help appreciated

I've just taken out a policy with CL for my 992RS and the only other option that included trackdays was Lockton - they were more expensive, but the cover was better - full value for PCGB days and £150k for others.
I've not found a standalone track cover yet - I have used insuremytrackday in the past but they won't insure cars worth over £200k and they won't do part value cover either. I may have other options for standalone, but haven't tried them all yet.
Unfortunately this means that the euro trackdays are not going to happen in the RS for me this year - hopefully next year there may be more options...

Same here. Used to get specific track day insurance through Lockton but haven’t bothered lately. Have never had any issues on track days when driving with responsible people on well organised / marshalled track days. However, Porsche Club GB (Steven) is much more disciplined than when you go with Porsche in Munich which I have been doing for the last couple of years to Red Bull Ring, Salzburg Ring, Monza or Misano. The Germans drive much faster and overtaking in corners is part of the “Spiel” unlike in the UK but all within the responsible driving.

This. Only seen one crash on Porsche Club day, and that was an RS (997) at Castle Combe. Didn't even get around his first lap before sliding sideways into a tyre wall (and not at Quarry). He was the first car on track and, to be honest, given the way he left the pit lane in a cold car, the rest of were quite relieved. hornbaek said:

are your cars on German plates? If so, I would assume you are covered if you are in the road legal group - at least my insurance covered track days (with the usual exclusions no events to achieve topspeed, racing, timekeeping etc) Most of mine are insured third-party only nowadays ... not worried about crashing, more worried somebody stealing one of the cars.

Yeah insurance different everywhere and in Germany at least for some cars rather expensive (I suspect my insurer is pricey and I never shopped around), that is why my FF is insured third party only, I got fed up with paying 6.5k per year for fully comp.

Never bothered there are risks to everything in life , and I race against £20 m cars , no insurance . Problem is all the carbon bits , mega expensive to replace .
We don’t all have your cojones.
In fairness, I’ve been on Nurburgring track days with one of the PH regulars using his ‘self insured’ Carrera GT.
Even for 997 GT3 it’s got trickier. The threshold for awkwardness used to be £100k value, but seems to have come down a bit. FWIW I am using Moris for ‘Ring.
