991.2 Turbo S with cage and 918 buckets
Discussion
As my mind keeps flipping between the 991.2 GT3 and the 991.2 turbo s, I got to wondering about retrofitting something like the Tequipment cage that we used to put into 996 GT cars and the 918 buckets from GT3s.
I wonder if anyone's done that? Or if it's possible? I suppose it takes the car away from the turbo idea and not close to the GT3 idea. But still, it's on my mind now I've thought of it...

Looks effortlessly cool compared to a bewinged 991 GT3.
Packs a punch more akin to a 996 GT2 too ...

Edit to add ;
Stunning (for which read expensive) OE lightweight Ti rear cage here ... :

Or a cheaper/heavier version at Champion Motorsports (and you get to choose what colour you have it) :

Genuine question:
What is the benefit of an after-market bolt in cage?
It provides safety when rolling over.
But little to no chassis rigidity, adds significant weight and will be fun to explain when selling?
Somewhere to attach the harness to. But also (apologies) cool What is the benefit of an after-market bolt in cage?

I'd reverse the change before selling.
@slippydiff 15k for Titanium!! Wow.

I fear you may have to explain the holes in the rear carpet sections if you do, as I suspect that unlike the 996 Tequipment cages of old, thus will actually be effective in the event of an inversion, and therefore will be mounted and attached to the shell as such. Rear seats would need to come out too ..

You'll find a turbo s with carbon folding buckets if you're patient. Its a far better car for day to day use on UK roads than a GT3 especially if you have kids. All a turbo s needs is a nice sports exhaust. I'd still advise after your GT2 you'd prefer the GT3 as a weekend fun car to take on track days and it will hold its re sale value much better too. I can see the 991 GT3 value being higher than 992 GT3 value in future as its the better '911' in my view.

All agreed, just musing really. I love the idea of telling that bloke down the pub my car does 205mph
Imagine the shame of having a car that only does 197?
Kidding -- the GT3 is where my heart is leading me for all the reasons you mention.

The guy in the pub would probably respond you have a point and shoot car (PDK) and ask who you need so much assistance to overcome your lack of skill (4WD).

Being facetious, but you know what I mean.
Don’t spend money to impress people you don’t really like

Seriously I was kidding. I couldn't give a hoot what the man down the pub -- or anyone actually -- thinks about the car I choose to buy and run.Being facetious, but you know what I mean.

Put some more road biased suspension on a GT3 instead of buckets and a cage in a Turbo ? RPM say that the Manthey suspension kit can be set up to be a better road set up than the OEM suspension. I would definitely rather have money in a GT3 than a Turbo if that is a consideration.

I've been looking at that, absolutely love it. And a 30 grand saving over a GT3 (and not a GT3 of course)I was rather addicted to the turbo power of my GT2, and the 996 GT3 I tested was really disappointingly peaky in comparison. I know the new 4.0 are much better but even so I do worry that I'll not have the monster midrange. Anyway, still very much musing over options.
It's still possible I'll take a drive over to see Henry.
Probably less than only a handful of turbo s specced like that in UK so i'd be fast as with those very rare carbon seats from factory they do get snapped up very fast. It definitely has more than the quoted 580bhp out of the box more like 600bhp+, no computer screens for speedo and haptic controls like the 992 interior. Boring pub fact a 992 turbo s still can not beat a 991.2 turbo s around the ring. If you intend to use for long drives and trips its the one to buy imo best sporty GT out there.

Supermono, I m seeing the following in your posts:
- GT car
- Turbo power
- Manual
Not saying that those are your requirements just things that have popped up. Maybe also a preference for RWD?
Is a 997 GT2 in range?*
996 Turbo was easy-ish to go RWD on. I think 997 is harder if you wanted to go that route and I d imagine 991 onwards is really difficult. I guess the trap there is money that you don t get back if you go the whole hog (seats, LSD, body of that floats your boat).
Edit: 997 GT2s seemed to have jumped quite a bit since the last time I looked. I was thinking more £100k.

You're right with those requirements... Well you were sort of right, I think I've changed my opinion a little and moved instead towards the idea of turbo power above GT chassis. And the ghost of GT3s past still haunts me where I was unhappy with having to be at 5000 rpm all the time to get instant surge. I'm not that much of a trackday driver in a car.
So basically I think now that the sweet spot feels more like 991.2 turbo s with buckets and aerokit. Plus that gives a decent saving against a GT3, at least short term -- whether one would depreciate more is a risk for sure.
Ticks these boxes:
Buckets
PCCB
Turbo torque (and then some)
Very cool looking with the aerokit.
With 996 turbos seem to be moving up (as they should as sub 30k for that feels like a steal) and pushing everything above them, 996 turbo s, 997 turbo/s, 991.1 turbo/s... And the 991.2 still has the analogue dials and with apple car play has IMO a nicer set up than the 992. So who knows?
Anyway buy to drive is my motto, and if it looks after me value wise then so much the better, in an ideal world I'd be keeping it for years anyway.
I wonder how often such cars come up...
