991.1 GT3 - OPC quote - 3 grand for new front springs fitted
Discussion
Thorney Motorsport had springs manufactured for McLaren to avoid the McLaren tax whilst maintaining the lower value cars and in effect extending their desirability and value ... a starting point for Porsche owners if a significant issue ?
Or ask Suspension Secrets ? It may not be an exact replacement but it may be better ??

I’d be finding a set of springs myself and have an independent fit them. A quick shufty on eBay and I found a complete set of genuine (RS) suspension for that kind of money, as an example.
I’m confident with some time spent you could find the parts and have it all fitted for a fraction of that cost.

Your friend should speak To Steve Bennett at https://sixfour.co.uk/
He'll upgrade the whole suspension for not much more to Motion Control or TracTive if warranty not an issue.

Suspect that's why inspection or service, not sure why it was on ramp. Think he mentioned nose llft creaking or something like.
He now has a quote from in indie. I won't mention any names. I get the feeling they're precise in the way they deal with customer cars. I'm still unhappy with the price. Its now a smidge over £1900. Only 3 hours labour. Rest is parts and alignment.

Did they send him any photographs of the broken spring?
I had corroded front springs + cracked discs + 4 new tyres list on a warranty renewal once. And it was 2 tyres that were worn, but they could only get N1 and all four had to be the same.

How much is the part? That always gives you an idea of how much you re being screwed for labour.
I d get an independent to do it in any case.
The springs are £78.42 each. The fitting £450, the alignment £250, the rest is for KY jelly and VAT.I d get an independent to do it in any case.
Sorry, I read that wrong, it was a vat full of KY jelly, plus the vodka and tonic

Labour at indie is 3 hours plus the alignment. Rest is parts.I d get an independent to do it in any case.
Add three hours labour and alignment, I'd like to think you'd got some change from £1,250?

Design911 sell a pair of front springs for £656.78 inc VAT (in my experience their prices are around 10% more than Porsche retail)

I see the problem here. You have assumed the [various] quotes only include the springs. You foolish man. There are SO much more parts required. Various stuff. Probably most of which you've never heard of.Add three hours labour and alignment, I'd like to think you'd got some change from £1,250?
Let's get back to the thread title ....

Snapped springs on a 10+ year old car are wear and tear.
Snapped spring on my ex's 8 year old 911 was replaced under extended warranty. The car was recovered, courtesy car dropped off and repair completed with zero hassle. I don't recall seeing in the Porsche warranty material that springs are excluded at a certain age/mileage. Edit to add, a quick look at Porsche warranty shows that shock absorbers are on the list not covered by wear and tear, but springs are not. I'd expect this to be covered.
