70k 991.2 GTS or 90k 991.2 Turbo - daily to go with GT3
Discussion
Afternoon,
I have a 992.2 GT3 (winged, guards red) coming in dec, but am looking for another 911 with 4 seats to use daily and to take the kids to school etc.
I was looking to keep it cheaper with a 70k’ish 991.2 GTS. Sweet spot, quick and looks great (love the front bumper.)
But I keep going back to 85-90k 991.2 Turbo.
Which one? I am concerned that the Turbo models will make the new GT3 feel slow? The GTS won’t be far behind the GT3, but I assume it will feel more of an upgrade on Sunday mornings when getting the GT3 out?
I have driven a Turbo S back in 2017, but have never driven the GTS? I’ve heard the GTS is stiffer than the turbo, but is there much in it? This car will become my daily, school run, supermarket etc, if so I’d assume the Turbo would be a better pick?
Finally - much in it between 991.2 turbo and turbo S?
Cheers.

I can’t help you with any real life experience, but given both have a turbo engine and given the recent thread about a comparison of 991.1 turbo and 991.2 turbo, I would go for the turbo. The only exception would be if you want a Targa, which I think is the prettiest version and would give you a very different experience to the GT3
Targa and cabs have been written off, no good in the back for kids.
I don’t think the fact that they are both turbo makes much difference, as regardless the turbo is much more effortless with the extra grunt. I think the turbo will make a better cruiser, but the GTS being lower powered will like being grabbed by the scruff…
Doing the same in the turbo must be lethal! Although the 4wd etc would be better for winter…

Or maybe spec rear seats in the GT3 and soften the suspension off with a DSC control module? I'm sure the kids will not mind! I can't see the point of the GTS or turbo tbh (as an aside no discernible difference between turbo and turbo s its really just spec level you do not feel the extra power of the turbo s both rapid). In your shoes for school runs I'd maybe think about something bigger like a 4 door super saloon or super SUV. How about a Taycan Turbo S?!

Can’t get a touring, but could queue jump on the winged car - so just gone for it and will keep for a year or so and just play about. Plus, kids in the back of a GT3 isn’t fun for anybody, too loud and stiff around our way.The GTS/Turbo is just every day nice, will take kids about when weather is good and they love it. GT3 will be a Sunday morning special to events and boys trips to racing/alps.
As for a bigger cars I already have one, I have 2025 X5 50e that is currently my daily - great for shopping and trips away etc. Was going to get the new M5, but found the X5 50e (still 500hp) is better really.

Congrats that s a nice fleet either way.
Compromise; GTS4?
Alternatively, try something different that the kids would love: Ferrari FF?
Thank you for saying about the 50e bhp, I didn t know it was up so much from the 45e. Must have a look as replacement for wife s car.
Yea on the GTS I could go 4, the price sits in the middle again - pushing me closer to the Turbo! I just need get back out there and drive GTS and turbo. It was 2017 when I last drove the 991.2 turbo…Compromise; GTS4?

The X5 is great, I run it through the company. I had a new one in 2023 just as the 50e came out and did 30k in 2 years, just took delivery of a new one on Friday as I can’t find anything better to replace it. The M5 was OK, but left me a bit cold. I ordered a red touring anyway, but after really considering it I changed for another X5. Makes sense with the dogs, kids etc and the fact I will probably end up with 2x 911s.
Fully recommend, handles well and goes like stink (60 in 4.5) - here’s the new one.
Nice conundrum to have!
I drove my friends 991.2 GTS earlier this year and I was seriously impressed. It was in France on a mountain pass and he was driving my GT4. I came away from that drive thinking I'd made a mistake with the GT4. I have two boys and it was ridiculously quick, whilst being comfy and obviously capable of housing the kids in the back.
I've not driven a modern 911 Turbo, but I cannot see why anyone would need the additional power. I'm not saying I wouldn't have one, as the 992 Turbo appeals to me, but the GTS left an impression on me.
Enjoy the GT3 and whatever you choose.

Recently acquired a 991.2 GTS and it s seriously impressive to drive and looks bloody gorgeous. I can t imagine that you d want for more.
Cheers all for your replies. I think the GTS will be enough tbf and at 70-80 is pretty good value. I think I’ll have a go in one…Gassing Station | 911/Carrera GT | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
