Evening all,

Just wondering are the 991.1 GTS not far off the 991.2 GTS price range these days?

Looking at both and found 2 with not much different in price, or mileage and wondered do the older 991.1's command a higher price these days rather than the newer 991.2?

991.1 have stronger residuals than the .2, last of the na and no turbo issues, they are a great car in my eyes if you like the drive.

I can imagine a 991.1 is a great car for the road, in today's world not too fast without the low-down torque of a turbo so may actually be more usable and rewarding having to rev it out. 991.2 GTS's would put me off with the risk of a Turbo issue...

Coming from someone who is considering a 991.1 or 992.1 GTS amongst a few others

This.
I was on the lookout for a 991GTS and tried both the 1 and 2.
For me the 1 was far more exciting to drive, the engine is just sublime. It may not be quite as fast as the 3.0T 2 but it is easily fast enough and sounds glorious. Also doesn't have the Turbo issues of the 2.
Specialists I discussed with stated the 991.1 was the last true GTS with a lot of tweaks over the S models such as the X51 power kit, whereas later models where really a trim level.
Their advice was that the 991.1 GTS if bought correctly, for example, full OPC S/H, low owners, low mileage, correct GTS trim ( not the horrible plastic dashboard or the without paddles MFW) will be one of the best of the modern cars to keep its residuals.
Look at the Boxster 981GTS values/demand vs the newer 718 2.5T GTS.
Watch Lee @ 9werks video on the range.
I paid what I thought was top £ for a 9,000 mile car in April and absolutely love it, but that price now has been blown out of the water by recent prices and sales.
Go and drive a realky good one, you won't walk away without buying it!

Had 991.1 GTS PDK, brilliant car, but needs the right spec as well. 18 Ways, Sunroof GTS Interior Pack leather & Carbon, Bose for me. Paid 80k March 2022 from OPC Chester sold to OPC West London for 80k September 2022. What are the prices now? Wouldn t buy a .2 GTS for not being N/A and turbo problems.

Having bought a 991.1 GTS last year it's heartening to read growing love for what they are.

I think a number of factors will see their values hold strong - last of the N/A engines, avoidance of Turbo issues and far fewer for sale. Currently 16 .1 cars v 51 .2 cars on AT.

They are a real joy to drive. Compared to a turbo they feel a bit docile at low revs but get beyond 3k and the noise and pace picks up significantly. At the top end the yowl is quite seductive.

As a second car for weekends and sunny days, even adding a chunk of money, I can't think of anything i'd rather have.

ETA - think we need some GTS pics up. Here's mine. PDK with 18 way GTS interior. Let's see yours!

I picked up a .2 GTS at the back end of last year after selling my GT3 for something more useable everyday. The engine is great, yes its not N/A but for everyday its perfect and sounds pretty good as well. Dont let the turbo issues put you off, as usual its all internet scare mongering by 99% of people who have never owned one, just make sure its in/kept in warranty and you'll be fine.

Agree that the 991.2 turbo issues are overhyped. Great car. Have done 50k in mine without any issues.

Not really scare mongering tbh, there was a thread here not so long ago, plenty on the states forums, I actually remember reading one that the same person that it happened to had previously stated the same thing! Pays your monies and you takes your chances, both great cars but out of warranty would you feel as confident with a .2 and the bill you could be handed if unlucky?

I wouldnt be running one without warranty for sure, however same could be said for a good 90% of the cars across the Porsche range. Expensive cars come with expensive bills, its all part of the game. If your running on a shoe string budget a Porsche isnt the place to be and neither is any car in the same price bracket.

Looking to get into my first Porsche 911 and really fancy a 991.1 variant and think they look great in red or white. If I can shift a car (or two) before the end of the summer I think I may have to go and check one out.

I run mine without warranty (981 gt4) and I’d rather take the risk on a.1 out of warranty over a .2, 14k for turbos, should you need them isn’t something a .1 is going to hand you and by all accounts they’re proving very reliable, I prefer the na engine also so a .2 was always going to be a non runner for me anyway.

Anyways, as you say, if yours go their fixed for free so no worries.

Feels like scare-mongering. Lots of individuals who don't own a .2 restating the fact that the occasional 991.2 has had turbo problems to the extent that it is taking on a life of it’s own like some kind of urban myth creating the impression that it’s going to happen to all the .2’s at some point which is utter rubbish. Is it 10k or 14k to get the turbos replaced? Chinese whispers.
