It s time

So having never had a Porsche of any description (McLarens and Astons mainly) I think it’s about time to see what all the fuss is about. I’m partial to a few track days a yr but don’t want to do too many in my current McLaren, my DBS certainly isn’t a track car so it will probably be making way when the time comes. I’m open to either manual or PDK but probably leaning towards the 992 GT3, don’t want to rule out the GT4RS or 991.2 GT3 either …interested to hear from people who have driven them and how they compare on road and track? I think the Spyder RS looks v nice also but I’m not sure I could live with the roof!
This car caught my eye and seems fairly ok price wise for the spec been for sale since June.

Seems the majority of 992.1 cars were specced with PDK manuals carry no premium. Thanks in advance.!

Porsche GT products do set the standard for an un modified car that can do track days whilst keeping a warranty going. You sound like the ideal owner for such a vehicle, so why not give it a go. To me the 992 GT3 felt like it had far to much ability for the road, but of course all that changed if you are someone who tracks as well.
The GT4RS seems very good value at the moment.

Suprised it hasn’t sold tbh maybe the colour and the manual box is holding it back ? Think a bright colour suits a racy Porsche tho, think that transmission and the screaming N/A flat 6 really offers something different to the competition , not many cars tick those two particular boxes any more.

FWIW, the SRS roof gets a lot of "hate" online but once you have owned it, i think taking it down is 45 seconds, and putting it up is maybe 30 seconds tops.

Was looking at that the other day. Brilliant spec, it’s where my money would go if I didn’t have a big Ferrari itch to scratch first.

(I have a 991 in Racing Yellow, colour looks better in real life but would say does not look as great when dirty.)

I think it looks the dogs - but I'd remove the side decal for a cleaner look

It takes a fair bit longer than that, and it helps to have 2 people. Putting it up is quicker, but realisticslly you need a few minutes for either operation.

Yeah I’ll defo have to go see it in the flesh currently away so will have to wait until early Sep …hopefully it’ll still
be there! There’s also a nice looking Miami blue 991.2 manual for sale with Phillip Ireland for about £30k less …seems a nice car for the money as well probably can’t go wrong with any of these. Does the 991.2 sound much better than the 992.1 with the particulate filters? Something like a JCR exhaust could be an option to improve the noise I suppose …or just remove the filters ?!

Owning both, the 1.2 sounds a bit better than the 2.1 but it's nothing major issue making it less enjoyable IMO

So I test drove the Racing Yellow GT3 today …it was exactly as I expected …bloody wonderful! That engine just screams, I was properly laughing when I opened it up for the first time! Auto blip on the downshifts is a nice feature , steering is so precise and feelsome on a par with my McLaren. Pretty close to a deal on it, very purposeful looking car in the flesh.

Finally got round to picking this steed up , had a really fun drive home in it the manual just gets you working that bit harder but v rewarding . Taking it to Spa tomorrow morning for a Trackday on Monday baptism of fire but thats what its bred to do! Colour is great so v happy all round.

I would love to drive your car at Spa. Let us know how you get on. It’s not summer any more so get some temp into those tyres before going wild.

Thanks chaps it s a blinding bit of kit ! So long since I ve driven a manual car but it s a v tight gearbox and lovely short throw drive over was good for some practice as found some nice b roads between Liege and Spa. I really need to hang onto the revs as well I think it’s time to change up and realise I’m only at 7,500 ! Hope all goes smoothly tomorrow!
