992.2 Carrera S, or 992.2 GTS?

So this is the dilemma.
(First Porsche purchase btw)
Today I borrowed a (horribly specced) Carrera S from the dealer, and at first I was very underwhelmed --- it felt a little bit too "normal car". Fast, but not very special. But then putting it into sport / manual etc. I started to "get it" and enjoy it.
I figured I could spec it up (sport chrono etc.) to add some drama and it would be where I wanted it to be.
But now I'm wondering - would it just make more sense to go with the GTS? (Which I've not driven)
I don't care about the speed (the S didn't disappoint on that front), but more the driving experience and engagement. Is this massively different, or not really?
(And before you say T, that was my original plan, but the lack of options for it killed it for me, sadly)
Basically I'm not super interested in the GTS on paper (more expensive, more complex, dealers seem to be trying to get rid of them), but....... would I feel different if I drove it?
Or would a top spec S do the job just as well for like 20k less?

I would have thought speccing an S with all the sporty options will be more satisfying than the GTS if more power is not what you want. I think something like the bucket seats will make a significant difference to the feel of the car.
I had a go at it and realised there is no sports suspension available anymore (I thought in the past that was an option - sth like a 10mm drop and stiffer)

Had previously liked the idea of the GTS as no lag due to the hybrid powertrain but the various ownership conditions above put me off
Now thinking about an S but as you say it’s fast and capable but having driven one it isn’t necessarily as fast / special as its price suggests

The .2 GTS has that low down punch (barely any lag) that's very impressive but the S isn't that much slower if you look at the 0-60 times (need to tick the sport chrono option to close the gap). I haven't driven the S but l found the GTS to be too fast for the A&B roads l test drove it on. I did like the race tex interior and the front end looks better.

The question is whether resale values will also be proportionally higher in the future... if so it's OK, but that's a pretty big assumption to make!
tbf people say the car isn't worth the money, but then compared to what? Not really any competition among new cars.

Ended up with an ‘S’ with Manual, PCCBs, Lwt Glass, PSE and a few other bits including standard suspension and sports seats.
Porsche’s own production configurator showed 1437kg (plus fluids).
Really happy, rhd but lives in S France, and suits the roads there perfectly.
A good friend of mine (who has a 992.1 ‘T’ PDK) and a very well known motoring broadcaster and long term 911 owner, had a 992.2 ‘T’ on loan from Porsche Cars GB last week (for some filming work) and both were smitten by it enough to both be planning to get one - the defining factor being the Manual gearbox.

that sounds very nice. I think a manual 911 with all the lightweight and sporty options is still a really nice proposition as a sports car. Considered the Base , the T , the S and the GTS .

I do agree with others that they have gotten really expensive though (UK less so than in other markets).
For me a 997.2 C2S is still pretty much the perfect daily/only car. I remember driving my friend's car when they were new and thinking, you don't really need more than that and so useable with the rear seats.

Hmm, interesting article. I think that a lot of 911s are driven very regularly. (I certainly use mine most days). And so hybrid, high voltage battery management is not something that would necessarily be a problem for me most of the time. But the idea that you should not leave the car outside in sub zero temperatures, nor under direct summer sunlight for any length of time... Nor can you trust the car to start again if left at an airport carpark for >2 weeks. Hmmm.
On the battery too cold issue, I think the chemistry is that the battery drains more quickly while in standby at sub-zero temperatures. And on the battery too warm issue, I think that causes the battery to age faster.
Both 296 and Artura have depreciated quite heavily, despite being - by all accounts - really entertaining cars to drive. It will be interesting to see if Porsche's hybrids are also a harder sell into the preowned market.
I certainly can't stand the faff of turning off all the ADAS on 2025 cars. Have you considered finding a 992.1 T, S or GTS that ticks all your boxes?

That battery stuff is scare-mongering. Most of that is merely 'recommended' as batteries work in all temperatures otherwise EVs could not exist. Norway is almost entirely EVs and it gets really cold there.
The only real piece of information in there is in the event you are planning on not using a GTS for several weeks, then make sure it has a nearly full charge before leaving it.

Hi, I am having same dilemma, 992.2 4s or 992.2 4 GTS. Ideally an ICE Turbo 992.2 (If they launch one) or a 992.1 turbo s (right one at right price and would rather really have a new car)
We had battery issues after 4 years on our 992.1 S, kept for 5th year and sold on. Now missing a 911 like crazy, so looking at Jan-Apr to sort!
I have a deposit with OPC for a turbo (not s), they say it will come, but I am not sure about hybrid for all those reasons and maybe deprecation - praying for 600bhp ICE
