Hi All,
Does the 991.1 RS (Around 2016) suffer from the same engine issues that the 991.1 GT3 had or was it fitted with a later engine. These are starting to look quite tempting at their price level and i'm considering moving on from my 997.2 GT3.
Apart from PDK only, is there anything else to consider particularly with this 'RS ?
Cheers

The latest G6 engine was fitted to the 991.1 GT3RS ... and the rev limit was reduced to 8800rpm.
The engine in the 991.2 GT3RS included a lot of enhancements ... for a reason.
Rennlist includes a list of G6 failed engines some of which were in 991.1 GT3RS cars ... herewith a list of the improvement made to the G6 engine for the 991.2 GT3RS ...

I understand that RPM Technik are planning to offer repairs to all the later GT3 engines ... but at a cost. Parts have become very expensive and Porsche themselves appear to have repaired by replacement ... with faulty engines returning to the factory ??

Great cars and very good value for money. Have a warranty for peace of mind and enjoy it.
.1 & .2 cars have had engines replaced for various reasons as I’m sure many other brands of performance cars have too, just not as well documented as the Porsche due to the demographic of a Porsche owner and I think the 991.1 gt3 engine issues have tarnished the reputation slightly.

I think there are also quite a few 997.2 RS with replacement engines (my old car, which is for sale, among them), but nobody seems to talk about those anymore [and they are a lot rarer than the 991.1, so failures as a percentage of production possibly not even that dissimilar]. I think when they were quite new and regularly tracked I read about engine replacement a few times on forums. I would think that car models that spend a lot of time on track will always have a certain percentage of failures, it is just that RS Porsches probably get tracked more than pretty much any other car model. .1 & .2 cars have had engines replaced for various reasons as I m sure many other brands of performance cars have too, just not as well documented as the Porsche due to the demographic of a Porsche owner and I think the 991.1 gt3 engine issues have tarnished the reputation slightly.
Was briefly looking at some 991.1 RS' earlier this year as my next possible car-I enquired about 3 and one had a replacement engine then my mate bought one (not one of the three I was looking at) and his is on a replacement engine.
It's not exactly unknown for the model but then neither are 991.2 or 992 failures.

Agree. As you said many of these cars are tracked and go through different life’s.
Iv had a 991.1 gt3 and did 20k miles in it with no issues.
I currently own a 991.1 gt3rs which I’m reluctantly selling which had an engine replacement this year.
For me I couldn’t justify the difference between a 991.1 & a 991.2 RS. It’s the same car with not huge amounts of changes.
I will be looking to buy a 992.2 RS once they are launched
As I said above just have a warranty on it and enjoy it. I think the warranty’s about £1100 a year from Porsche.. no brainer!
