992.1S - drivers door not closing (intermittent)

My MY20 992.1S blotted its copy book this morning by not allowing me to close the drivers door.

Tried all kinds of things suggested by the internet - trying to reset the latch with my fingers, cycling the locking with the key blade in the "secret" key slot, holding the door closed and locking it, using internal opener twice in a row to cycle. Nothing worked.

I had to call Porsche Assist who sent out an AA patrol. 75mins later, chap arrived and I went to demonstrate to him the issue and guess what......it worked!

I had a similar issue arise in super cold temperatures one morning as I set off for an early flight. I had assumed it was a heavy frost which had played with the windows. But given it was c +20degs C today and the fact it reset itself, seems more likely to be a microswitch or similar.

It's booked in to OPC Cambridge the week after next but wondered if anyone had experienced similar since Porsche sounded baffled both on the phone to Assistance and when booking in with OPC.

Sounds like a sticky microswitch in the latch mechanism. Common issue on 991/992. It usually fixes itself (as you saw) but the switch will eventually fail. OPC will likely replace the whole latch. You did the right thing booking it in.
