Hello fellas -

I've been toying with the idea of putting my 997 up for sale -

prices seem to have been resilient/climbing a little in the time i've had it - but with the current state of play, thanks for the mad orange tt over the pond, would i be bonkers to let her go now?

It seems to me that the discretionary/classic motor market is likely to be hit hard with any ongoing oil shock & economic downturn.

I was just a kid, but i remember 1990 hehe

whats the general consensus?

If you're selling to chase the peak, that peak was last summer. Discretionary stuff like a 997 gets shaky when the economic wind turns. Keep it if you enjoy it. Sell if you'd rather have the cash before the tyre-kickers get picky. Don't overthink it.

Ask Grieg at RPM or the guys at JZM. The latter just sold my mates Guards Red 997.2 GT3 (c17k miles) for v good money and got him into a stunning low miles Carmine Red 991.2 GT3.

No, not trying to chase the peak - just have had for three year now - so time to move on.

Was kinda surprised to see the value was pretty much where is was whan i bought (c.£45-£50k)

normal i'd be trying to buy in this cycle - as everything start to look a bit better value.... this time it may be different though....

swings and roundabouts, i guess

you're 100% right about overthinking it though! hehe

What's the spec of your 997?

200i8 997 turbo?
Coupe/Cab?
Manual/PDk?
Mileage
History
Standard/Modified?
Colour

Ultimately that will determine the demand and what it's worth.

I don't see any model of 997 suddenly tanking in value.

Theres a healthy market for them.

I think the only cars that are probably being hit are nearly new, thirsty average cars. Anything thats 30mpg or below and isnt special in any way.
