Hi All,

I’ve owned my 2017 991.2 4 GTS a year now. It’s due its first service under my ownership in June this year. It’s done 59k. The warning light just came on saying it’s needs an oil change, so was hoping that was the minor service. I’ve contacted my local Porsche dealer to book it in and this is the quote. I wasn’t expecting servicing a Porsche to be cheap, but certainly wasn’t expecting this either. Does it look right to you all, please? Or are they trying to just get extra money for things that don’t strictly need doing:

Why is it getting a 10 years/100k service at 8 years/60k?

^^^^ This. I'd ask them to confirm they're doing the correct service.

My 2016 991.2 is being serviced shortly. The estimate shows the same items minus the spark plug change which is due every four years. These cars are to be serviced every two years so a 2017 car should have had an 8 year service in 2025 which would include the spark plugs.

What did it have last? When were the plugs last changed? Have they inspected the belt already?

I’ll check all of that, thank you.

Looks expensive to me.
Within the last 2 weeks I’ve had an 8 year 40k service on my 991.2 carrera 4 gts cabrio and it was circa £1800 ,
Inc 2 coils and a new rear tyre, a mot and courtesy car .

Will try to post up a copy of the 3 page invoice tomorrow.

With the extras, that appears around £1000 less than mine..

That would be great, thank you!

Email a couple of other OPC. My local OPC wanted £2500 for the four year service on my 992 a few weeks ago. I reached out to a couple of others and for the sake of a hours drive, I saved £700.

Good idea, thank you!

If a light has just come on it means last service was in 2024 meaning it's either had a service done early somewhere or maybe one was done late.

You need to look at the book or if service work done at OPC get them to check the Database to see what's been done in previous services.

Only then will you be able to determine which items need doing and able to get comparable quotes. If it's not under warranty then it doesn't have to go to OPC either

Upcoming eight-year service on my 991.2 will cost £2,350 at local OPC. I could save £150 at one elsewhere but faff would be involved.

The core service and brake fluid are pretty much exactly what I paid last year on my 3.8 GTS.

The plugs and belt work are very costly. The description on the belt suggests it s a check only. I wonder if they have added this as a stand alone job which includes cost to strip down the rear of the car (bumper off etc) which I think they do anyway for the service.

At £300/PH any additional labour shoots the price up.

Some OPCs offer decent PCGB discount. My local ones don t so I swallowed the difference for the convenience.

ETA it does say composite work which may be the term for additional tasks rather than stand alone. £500+ to check a belt yikes

Yes the belt is checked after every 4 years from new and changed after every 6 from new. Would it be better just to change it every 4 years? Or is the actual changing a big additional cost to the check?

Fair enough. Have you been quoted for the same things as me, please?

I'm sorry - that's just taking the proverbial urine. Why are you using a Porsche Main dealer anyway? You should be going to a respected specialist, as this does not compromise any warranty you might have. Main dealer service rates are about £200 per hour and you're paying for 'wet behind the ears' Service Techs who only know how to change parts.
