Help pls - hanging off the bottom of the car
Discussion
Coming home tonight and when I slowed down, a scraping/tingling/dragging noise was apparent.
At 40mph, the wind/airflow seemed to keep it off the road as it was dangling under the car ..
Any ideas ?? Assuming the picture uploads? It’s a 911.2 Turbo S Cab.
That s from the rear and the tyre is off sight rear . It s near the axle I guess?

That looks exactly like the active aero front lip spoiler has come detached on one side. On the Turbo S, it deploys down at speed yours has likely broken a linkage or the mechanism itself has failed, so it's hanging.
Don't drive it further if you can avoid it. If it catches the ground properly and rips off backwards, it'll take the bumper with it or damage the radiators. Get it towed or limp it very slowly home if you're close. It's a known weak point on these.

Can you not take a better and closer photo (s)
I’m nearly 60! If I get down there again, I might not get up….
Will try but looking online elsewhere, it seems it may well be the duct but how the hell has it come loose/dropped down.
I will also take better pictures but it was late and I was grumpy as well as a bit worried in case I’d done damage.
Thanks both / all.
Special thanks to Bosshog!
It was the air duct and the Porsche Assist chap (AA rather than Specialist Technician - an extra 8 hr wait) was down under the car before I could get outside. Jacked the car up and found the duct hanging on by a cable tie.
Snip - and handed it to me showing me that it had been damaged before in his opinion, hence the cable tie.
New part required and to be properly fitted. I was unaware and as far as I know, wasn t repaired on my watch. Minimal damage to the duct but clear wear where it was dragging etc. evidence of damage which probably means new part essential.
Thanks for heads up Bosshog as it helped point me in the right direction w Porsche Assist.

To be fair I have a 996 GT3 with brake cooling ducts and these are clipped on by design but also have cable ties to help them stay on. There are so many potholes and more aptly speed bumps that you would just lose them on every drive if you did not cable tie them too.
So don't be surprised if Porsche tell you "they all come like that". Don't cable tie them at your peril but if you decide not too buy a few spares whilst you are there.
