992.2 noise

Understand the new regs on drive past noise levels are in force. Lots of reviews saying cars as sort of silent (such as Harry’s garage AM DB12s). Assume same is true for 992.2 or is there a cut off date when it was allowed to be noisier ?

They are nothing like in times gone by but also not as bad as some make out.

Pretty darn quite at low speeds but Porsche have done a decent job of retaining some growl at the top end imho.

991.1 was the last NA if you really want the full noise experience.

Thanks, was trying to get the best of the turbo generation had a cayman gts which made a lovely sound.

I had a 992.2 carrera 4s for a week in Italy and the sound was fine up the rev range. The best part is the turbo waste gate noise

Wastegate noise ?

Thats a surprise that it makes any.

What sort of noise, a whoosh, or is it actually allowing the compressor to enter surge ? (like a 80's audi sport quattro S1)

It's a whoosh, it was a cab for reference so maybe different in the coupes.

Bit a drag to turn off all of the nanny aids each time you start it (you can program the shortcuts) but other than that I enjoyed it.

Also depends on the model.

I test drove a 992.2 Carrera with Sports Exhaust and a 992.2 Carrera T.

As the basic engine and exhaust package is the same I expected the same noise. How wrong was I. T was waaaaaaaaay louder. Far more pops/bangs on the overrun.

One of the reasons I now own a T. #oldboyracer
