993 Turbo with the 430ps engine, as opposed to a 993 Turbo S? http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/1435794.htm
Looks nice.

ahhhhhhh.... sorry guys my mistake...thought it sounded cheap for a 'S'......should have read more and took more notice...red calipers etc etc etc
Yeah, but an easy mistake to make when they are trying to pass it of as an S in the text! That ad is a bit naughty really.Edited by sambaman on Thursday 14th January 18:08
Still, if they can sell that for that price then mine which is virtually identical bar the wing vents just jumped in value by about £15k!!!

Looks nice.
Real cars had "Turbo S" etched into stainless steel door sills (image 3 shows a bit of rubber instead), and also had it stitched into rear seat backs.
Real S had wheel paint that was a brighter silver than standard. On my screen, this car's wheels are dull and grey.
Advert says 12 "S"s came to UK in RHD. The correct number, IINM, is 31.

Careful, if one reads properly the add, it clearly mentions it is not a 993turbo S
quote: "Being an interim example between production of the standard turbo and the turbo S..."
The only thing from the turboS are the S side vents. Yet they were an option: X79 in the Porsche catalog.
The 430 bhp option they are referring to, is again the common X50 option from Porsche catalog, and was offered on all 993 turbo at the time (maybe not on the 95 cars though). X50 was upgraded to 450bhp and K24 turbos from 1997 (430bhp K16 for 1996).
Very misleading ad, the car isn't anything more than a well spec 993 turbo.
note: if you guys check mine out, it is pretty much the same one, it has absolutely everything from the turboS except for the X50 K24 turbos, yellow break calipers (which were only cosmetic, they didn't have carbon brakes at the time) and carbon interior.
X50 430bhp incl. twin pipes exhausts
X79 air inlets in rear panels
Y75 aerokit II (front and rear spoilers)
note note: the turbo S offered in the US only had the X50 430bhp package, nor had it the "lower" suspension.

That is a VERY naughty ad, personally i think it should be removed. Someone who isn't well clued up could quite easily be caught out by this. Why talk about the turbo s in the ad so extensively, it is very misleading (even quoting incorrect build numbers). This bit at the end "set to be nothing but an appreciating classic from this point forward." is a bold claim for a true "s" but to make it about an over priced turbo is very naughty and coming from a trader is very ill judged.

I think as specialised as it is anyone looking would be well clued up - Or at the very least have it inspected by someone who is. IMHO.Edited by welshnobby on Thursday 14th January 21:50

Note the "lower" suspension was in fact a "sport" kit which was developed by Weissach for the 993tt and was available as a retrofit and included virtually every suspension part including special arms with stiffer bushings as well as obvious things like shocks, anti roll bars, braces and even a weld on 964 part for the rear suspension turrets..... it was available from dealers in '97 for £8500 parts only....The 993ttS was nothing special IMO FWIW, just chucking all the best bits of the 993tt for the run out model - they did it for the 996tt as well but the they really charged big bucks for the 993ttS, like £120K in 1998 !!!

I do wish I could have landed a LHD one though. When I was looking for my turbo, I saw a black turbo S with ruffle leather, IMO: not the right spec, needs the hard back seats.
If I could find a LHD w/ hard back seats, I would most probably do a P/X today.
Oh well, if not...I'll upgrade my turbos to the K24 kit: still available from Porsche. Let's see in the spring

For some reason the LHD european cars command huge premiums. They have always been priced way above the UK cars. Not looked on mobile.de recently but that used to be the case.
Thomas Schmitz has this one at 160k euro which is a lot of cash.

I agree they do command a huge premium on the continent (there are 2 for sale in France at the moment but both do not have the hard back seats, and the asking price is £110k and £130k).Thomas Schmitz has this one at 160k euro which is a lot of cash.

But always hoping to find one here, one never knows, with a bit of luck.
.
For that money I wouldn't bother w/ a RHD: there is a slight chance I end up moving to Geneva with all that's happening here in the UK...and the turboS is a keeper IMO.
Actually mine is a keeper too (yet a RHD), unless I can source the ultimate one. for some reasons I have never seen any spec like mine on the continent, I think high spec is a UK thing, people spend a lot more here when buying their cars.
But I agree, mine for instance would never never command that money, what a premium!
