And driven 60 miles home and no issues so far, I half expected it to explode as soon as I hit 70 mph but all is in one piece. The 60 miles was also through quite heavy rain and my worries about drowning also proved unfounded as not a drop came in through the roof.

Things I want to buy straight away and require advice and pointers in the right direction are -

New exhaust - it's far too quiet. Someone did advise me of a link on his profile but I couldn't find it so any advice, idea of costs would be welcome. There used to be a lad in a Boxster that came out with us on some of the NW Lotus runs -it was the best sounding car of the bunch. If you are on here can you let me know what it was please.

New set of 17" wheels and tyres -currently has a nice set of 16s on but they look too small and the tyres are a bit of a mismatch - I like them all to be the same so as above recommendations and approximate costs would be welcome.

Car mats - need a new set, best place to go?

New key, heart attack when local dealer quoted £270 - is this right?

Thanks in advance for any assistance.

1. Carnewal are worth a look up - they can modify std exhausts to achieve very nice sounds.

2. Depends on your budget but plenty of porsche 17" wheels on ebay. N rated tyres of course...

3. Main dealer mats - never yet found aftermarket that were any good.

4. Keys - yes main dealer.

Y 2001 2.7 in Silver - 90k on the clock, 12 months mot, fsh, 6 months warranty and tax, very tidy inside and out all.for a ridiculously low sum of £5k. It really is madness how cheap these cars are.

A lot do look tidy but at this age and mileage the suspension bushes are typically well worn. Replaced the lot on 2 Boxsters now a 2000 58k one in 2012 and now a 105k 2004 one this year.

I'm going to book it in to a good garage that I know and trust who deal with all the top Marques, they will give it a good look over for me.
I have just been googling "dim dash lights" and can't figure out from what I have read if it's a problem or just the design? They do seem pretty dim but there doesn't seem to be a dimmer switch to adjust them - or is there??

Haha, you just made me laugh about the rad fans. Got home earlier and went to open the garage door with the car running, the rad fans sounded like a jumbo jet - or at least they did to me.

It's a cracking car which will probably be my first step to a Cayman.

My little boy is severely autistic and doesn't talk very much, when he seen it he kept saying "out in Daddy's car" over and over again - he isn't in to cars so that's quite an endorsement. He didn't show that much excite, net with so e of the other sportier numbers I have had.

There should be a dimmer switch, between the speedo & rev counter at the top, or somewhere like that (can't remember exactly and I've consumed too much alcohol this evening to go looking for a picture for you. It should be in the handbook (assuming you have one).

Congratulations on your new car mate, well done!

Toys as 'things' don't mean much at all, its the joy they give you and others that make the experiences.

When I go out to the garage to get something and I see my car, it used to be the roads in Europe I had driven it on that I immediately thought of but recently since I have been taking my daughter out in it on drives, its her giggle, smile and laughter that bring a smile to my face smile

Woah daddy....giggle....that's FAST.....again daddy biggrin

Thanks for the link mate, as with the links EDC has put on it won't give me "Permission" to view them, it also doesn't give me an option to register on the site.
