Just wondering if any PH'ers have any information on the Spyder @ Cridfords. Did anyone on here own it previously? Any insight will be much appreciated.

Going to have a look at it soon and hopefully they will let me have a drive. Hope the manual gearshift makes things more involving.

Also, when do things like ball joints and track rods start to show noticeable wear on Boxsters? I know it depends on how hard you tend to drive it, whether it is tracked etc, but from past cars, my Clio 182 started to feel soft after 45k, but that was used hard every day. I also had a JCW R53 and after 35k the ball joints had worn making the car feel like crap. That did have 18" alloys which I swapped out to 17" shortly after.

Just trying to gauge where and what will need to be replaced and how soon so i can negotiate. If anyone also can point me in the direction of a site such as realoem.com for the porsche it would be great. I would like to get an understanding of the suspension components, how they are laid out etc.

Many thanks in advance.

These cars normally sell in a few days, they have had that car a while.

Might me the miles as 27k is low, but on these cars on the higher side.
It's states full leather, but it's not got the leather, but then few have.
A lot of people want PCM etc.

As for a refresh, some say even 15 years old GT3 never need any thing, others like me will say a car can cost quite a lot to refresh on a car that old. So you will never get a straight answer.

For me a Spyder needs to be manual, have buckets, Spyder wheels, every thing else is personal, but it has the big 3 imo and PSE. Worth a look.

Yeah agree on the miles being a touch high. Although in reality there are plenty Gen 2 Boxsters with much higher miles out there and its the same engine so shouldn't really cause any concern. I guess it all depends on whether you want to collect the car or not. Cant see myself doing more than 2 k miles a year on it so it will all average out nicely in the long run :-)

Interesting what you say about the refresh, I would have thought rubber bushings would have perished long before 15 years. Especially if you have 10" rims gripping at the rear and all the load going through them. I guess i need to come and take a trip to see you buddy and see what yours is like as well to get a benchmark.

Do you mind pm'ing me your details mrdemon. Off on holiday soon, but have some time at the end of December if your available. Will probably tie it in to a trip to see some family if your in Leicester!

yes come over any time just email me though my profile.

I agree with you that things wear out and can cost you 10 to 15k to renew if you by a car which has had nothing done bar the norm.

Engine will do 100k miles no issue I guess, it just miles on these is price sensitive.

main items on Porsche cars and in fact any car are.

Bushs, yes they get sloppy esp in the UK because the salt and water get behind them and corrode the alloy.
Clutch wear our esp if people are NOT rev matching which if you look on PDK threads many don't rev match
DIff are quite weak. so you tend to do clutch and diff at the same time, many fit cup diffs.
Damper rebuilds at >40k miles worth doing.
coil packs
rear exhaust rot
AC condensors fail
rads fail
top mounts fail
a big service is about £1200
tyres are £1000

so as you can see easy to spend 10k on a 60k mile 10 year old car.

on a 27k 4 year old car I would hope nothing needs doing and it should have had the big 4 year service.

SO you are mainly checking: disks, pads, tyres, over revs, body work and service history.

Thanks bud. Found some info re Peter Morgan so will probably opt for a PPI before biting the bullet. Cheaper to pay a little upfront and hopefully enjoy many years of trouble free motoring.

Will email you nearer the time. Appreciate the help
