Hi all

I'd like to get the sport button/sport mode retrofitted to my Sypder, but when I spoke to someone about it yesterday at an OPC he just sounded a bit confused by what I was asking. Can anyone who's had it done tell me which OPC it was done at, as if they've already done one I'm hoping they might have an idea what I'm asking for when I phone up!

Cheers

just to retro fit the Sports mode software its about £700

some OPC are really poor, not knowing and still OPC not knowing about NAV updates a year on !!!

here is an add from a USA site with more info for you

I have had it fitted as a retro fit btw as I don't like the standard pedal feel.
it's not like Audi or BMW where sports mode makes the pedal jerky, imo sports mode is sport on and works well.

You think that's bad? I booked my car in to have this fitted, they had it for 3 days and upon collection they hadn't fitted it.

Some bullst about the tech didn't think I'd want it because my car is a gen 2 or some pathetic excuse like that, so he ignored it on the job card.

Booked in 6 weeks in advance because I wanted a courtsey car and took a few days off work so I didn't have to pester my MD to leave work early. I despair that opc.

I thought that the sport button came as standard with all 987.2 Boxsters? Isn't it the Sport+ that comes as an option with the Sport Chrono pack?

Nope - the sport button is the sport chrono pack without the chrono bit.

I'm not a fan of the wart on the dash do didn't spec sport chrono when ordering and retro fitted spot mode later.

Just remember that OPCs tend to charge what they like for this upgrade. I had quotes from £680 all the way up to £900 as I recall.

Swindon OPC was the cheapest but Reading agreed to match them, so I went there since that's where I bought the car and service it.

In answer to the OP, I had it retro fitted to my Spyder in 2011 at Leeds OPC, and I believe Bolton were also doing them at the time as well.

I've had two quotes so far - one for £724 and one for £697. It does seem oddly variable.

In my relatively basic, manual 981 the Sport button does almost nothing except illuminate a little red light!

Insofar as it changes the throttle map I can obtain exactly the same result by pressing the accelerator a bit harder. Makes a lot more difference if you have PDK and/or the adjustable suspension.

i got a Sprint Booster on my old 987s after reading lots of positive reviews. it was £200, quick to install, didn't change my insurance, and allowed 3 switchable throttle maps. The middle setting delivered excellent results, making the car feel a load more urgent and responsive (it went perfectly with the gt3 short shift kit), and also made heel and toe-ing much easier. Fully understand if folk want to keep OEM but this was a great solution for me and much cheaper. Ive a 996 turbo now and I'm getting a sprint booster on that too.
cheers,
