Carnewal Exhaust Demo Request
Discussion
I can't make my mind up and decide whether or not to go with a Carnewal GT exhaust for my Cayman R.
The reason i'm hesitant is that whilst having the mod done is c.£400 if I then don't like it the reversal process is £1,500.
So i'm after a very kind and willing member who has had the Carnewal GT exhaust fitted to their 987 (boxster or cayman) to demo it for me (in exchange for a beer or 2) - preferably in the North Herts area ish...?
Cheers!

not a fan of Tubi normally, but on a Cayman they sound great.
NEVER mod oem stuff, if you want a R carnewal Exhaust, then but buy one outright (good exchange rate atm)
1395 Euro only option anyway I thought he does not mod or exchange R exhausts !

I've spoken to Gert already so it's just down to me to find a live example rather than youtube clips before I push the button.
Gert will do one of the following for a Cayman R - bearing in mind it's a different exhaust to the Cayman S. So he won't accept a Cayman S exhaust in exchange for a Cayman R exhaust.
- He will mod my existing exhaust for c.£400; OR
- He will buy a brand new Cayman R exhaust and modify it for about £1,200 and I can keep my existing one.
I haven't decided yet which way to go yet, all i'm interested in at the moment is what it actually sounds like as I don't really have a feel for it, even thogh i've watched all the clips etc.

I bought a brand new modified Cayman R exhaust from Gert.
It would have been a lot cheaper to have my standard Cayman S exhaust modified / part exchanged, but then I'd have to sell it on the car and it might put some people off.
Due to the rarity, I imagine I'll get a reasonable amount back when I sell the modified Cayman R exhaust secondhand.
I'm happy with the sound, but like you said it's impossible to tell from youtube clips.
Unfortunately I'm a long way away in Suffolk, so can't really demo it to you.
It does have a slightly strange loud rasp when accelerating at very low revs, buts sounds amazing once you get through that.

Just looked on the Carnewal site, cost of the exhaust is 499 Euros, this included tax and shipping, will I pay less as I'm taking my car to him?

Hi Steve,Steve
I got a quote from Gert recently for fitting the GT Exhaust to my Cayman S at his workshop in Belgium, and he quoted me 495 euros including installation and VAT. Hope that helps.

My was done last year.. Drove over to Belguim. Gert has a guest house where you can relax whilst he does the swap.. It's fully stocked, even beer if you want it!. Only additional cost was new stainless bolts which added about 20 euro. The drive back was fun
You will love it.. Gert was telling me how long it took him to refine the Carnewal modification.. Boy did he get it spot on !!
Like I said, do it + have you seen the exchange rate now?
