I've got a 2007 Cayman s, we seem to be suffering from really steamy windows all the time, it doesnt get used every day, but every 3 rd day say, anything else that might be causing it or does it have that trait?

Cheers

I never get them

clean the inside of your windows, people state AC is great for clearing a steamed up window.

I just find if you have clean windows they don't steam up in the 1st place and of course air circulation is key.

I'd be interested in hearing others experience. My 2007 Cayman S with clean windows also gets this regularly & I noticed the drivers side door card carpet was damp at the bottom edge yesterday.

My rear wash/wipe also has a mind of its own, but that's another story.

Sounds like your door membrane has gone, if so, get it replaced. 5-10 minutes to remove the door card (same to replace) then the time it takes to carefully remove the old one, prepare the area it sticks to and stick a new one on - I've not done it so I'd guess the whole job is in the region of 30-60 minutes.

Mine was always like that unless you ran the a/c and fan on low all of the time. Only problem was when the A/C cut out below 3c - it then steamed up. Tried everything: window cleaning, new cabin filter, driving around with open window to clear things and worked out it was just a sh'it ventilation design. You have to remember Porsche spend all of the money on the engine design and durability.

Oh hang on.

I used to have the same problem on my 987 & 981 but now use a couple of these and have not had the problem since

http://www.halfords.com/car-seats-travel-equipment...

I put one on the dash and the other stays on the engine shelf (under luggage net as not to move around). When driving I just move the one on the dash.

It does take a day or so to absorb the moisture when first put in but after that there's no problem

I appreciate I'm a bit late to this party, but I had exactly the same problem. When Porsche looked into it they finally realised that some of the tiny drainage holes had been filled up with wax during the manufacturing process. Once they'd cleared them out it was much better.

I'd like to know for curiosity's sake: 7 years I drove that blood'y thing with windows that were always on the verge of steaming up. I'm also surprised that the hyper-keens on Planet-9 never found this out.

I bought something similar in PoundLand. So far it's not worked...

Hi, my cayman S 2006 and a 2003 Boxster had the same issues and its down to a seal which breaks down between the main part of the door and a metal inner skin which is covered by the door trim. 991&PW magazine had a how to in the last few months and it can be sorted by buying some Porsche mastic based sealant tape on a roll.

I had the same problem with a boxster. I found the carpet at the bottom of the drivers side door card was wet & this was keeping moisture in the cabin. I took it to opc, who replaced something in the door, a membraine i think (10 years ago!). That solved the problem. So feel your door carpets & good luck.
