Dubai dilemma - Cayman R v. Cayman S
Discussion
Both of these look attractive but I am no Porsche expert.
I would be very grateful if either stands out as an exceptional deal. The "R" seems 10,000 quid less than the only example I can see on Autotrader in the UK for instance. Will be a weekend/track car.
Much appreciated in advance.
Cayman R - 2012 - Peridot Green - FSH and Warranty - PDK Gear Box Black Leather interior Navigation. Sports and Sport Plus and Exhaust button. 25,000 miles - 35K pounds (negotiable)

Cayman S Sport Ltd Edition - 382 of 700 worldwide - Green - FSH - (61000km), (PASM), a sports exhaust system, Alcantara grip trim, bi-xenon headlamps, Sports Chrono Package and sports seats. BOSE sound system.
Interior Black on Black, impeccable. Exterior paint like new. 21.5K pounds (negotiable)

the R
the gen 1 S is a parts bin car with a engine not known for lasting very well
the R is a gen 2 dfi car with LSD, bespoke sus and is one of todays true greats imo
how ever nice the gen 1 cars are, if you have gen 2 money you just buy a gen 2esp if its an R

There was 2 white cayman r's on dubizzle at the tail end of last year. Both pdk jobs with sports design steering wheel ie flappy paddle. They were on for 180k aed tho can't remember the milage but wasn't astromoical.
I noticed them as there was a couple of higher milage 997.2 for the same price.

I'd pay the extra price just to avoid the engine issues of the gen 1 engine.

Gen 2 engines like in the Cayman R have a much better reputation. If you opt for the Cayman S Sport be sure to get a warranty.

Ok thanks. I doubt they had a warranty, new tyres, new paintshield, Porchse cover, sport, sports plus, sports exhaust, navi, leather buckets, PCM though.I noticed them as there was a couple of higher milage 997.2 for the same price.
Spec looks very good for offered price.
Both were 2012 cars so we're still under original OPC warranty and service plan with PCM and A/C optioned back in. As for the tyres???
Not saying that one is not a bad deal but people on dubizzle inflate prices by 10-15% as the amount of "offers" they get.
All I'm saying is haggle. Just trying to save you a couple of fils.

The R but not with those wheels need's Spyder ones IMO .Love the Viper Green one of my favourite colours .I think the R will be a better long term investment if this is a factor.
Think that one is Peridot Green not Viper Green. Mine is more of the Viper but some on here say it's (mine) just called Porsche Green nowGassing Station | Boxster/Cayman | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
