Gen II Cayman S - short shifter cable snap (ANOTHER ONE!!!)
Discussion
I have read a lot of on this subject. Why o why wont Porsche sort this out? Didn't they recall the Gen 1s?
Driving along around 30mph as pulling away from a roundabout. Gear stick goes all floppy. Trapped in third. Cannot find any gear. Somehow managed to limp home navigated some hairy slowing into traffic and lights.
Had to be recovered off my drive (embarrassing) and then £700 bill as not in warranty. (Although Porsche should just settle it themselves as ongoing dispute). Confirmed its the cable @ OPC.
Vehicle is 6 years old and only done 27,000 miles. No tracking and most of the 10,000 I've done been motorway miles.
All in all pretty shocking!

Hi gsewell, the cables are £201.61, support £27.39 and the the lever is the £197.02.The cables have superceeded to new number(6 Speed boxster 2.9) and the support and lever are to be used with this cable.I think the lever is keeping the cable in a straight line, to reduce stress.
