Good morning,

I've just bought a very nice little Cayman S (987) and I hope you can answer some questions for me please.

I need to fit the roof bars for my kayak and mountain bike. I have been doing some searching online, some people say only the genuine Porsche feet fit, other people saying Thule ones fit, but no mention of which part number. Does anyone know? I have a selection of Thule feet, bars and fitting kits from previous cars so I could just try them and see if they work, but it would be good if someone knew the part number which worked best.

Secondly, the exhaust tips are badly corroded. It looks like it's a common problem. What the cheapest solution to sort these out? Ultimately I'd like to change the exhaust to something louder, but funds won't allow for this until much later in the year. Can I just replace the tips cheaply in the interim?

Anything else I should know?

Many thanks.

Dan

Yes, the Thule ones do fit. There's a thread on PH somewhere of a chap that fitted Thule bars to his 911. A search should throw it up. I do remember he needed to mix and match parts though to get the bars level but the place he bought from we very helpful. I've got the Porsche bars and they do look better than the Thule ones, if that meters. I also tank I saw an advert for some for sale recently

Thanks for the info. Yes, I've been looking on eBay, I can't believe new tips are £200-300! I wonder if I could get mine cleaned up.

Roof rack looks interesting, I think I have those feet already (I have quite a lot of Thule bits!!) so I'll just need the fitting kit.

So, it looks like I need....

2 x Footpack 753 (for the front) and 2 x Footpack 751 (for the rear) and the 3100 fitting kit. I already have the bars.

Thanks for the help and advice.

Speak to Haywood and Scott about new exhaust tips, they can make new ones up for you and less than £300!!!

I did have some but sold them literally the other week, sorry.

Thanks, once I've picked the car up and seen if mine is rescueable, I'll then consider if I need to buy a replacement.

I've also just discovered that the car has the extra leather options. Leather dash, instrument binnacle, centre console, doors etc. Really pleased with that.
