Please don't shoot me down for not using google .... (I did but couldn't get a definitive answer)

I'm looking at a used 2007 Cayman S on Thurs eve. which has three months remaining on the OPC warranty.

The owner has recently taken it for an inspection prior to the warranty finishing and sale and all issues have been resolved (just air-con compressors etc.)

Does that mean it's simply a case of renewing once/if I buy it or does it need to go in for another 111 point check? If it does can I assume it should fly through if it's recently been in for an inspection? Or is this wishful thinking?

This is assuming it's 100% standard, N-rated tyres etc. etc.

You will have to have a 111 point inspection down prior to the warranty being extended.

How much is a typical 110 point inspection and is it something you would normally expect the seller to cover?...or a 50/50 arrangement?

This is a private sale so any extras would have to be negotiated I suppose.

Fair enough ... but you'd expect it to pass resonably easily if it's just been in for a pre-warranty check-over?

Might be worth getting him to renew the warranty as part of the deal, otherwise you have to wait 90 days once you've bought the car before Porsche will cover it.

As you've said though, it's got 3 months left so you should be ok either way... smile

+1
Get him to renew for you and you pay him the cost and then transfer it when you purchase it.

Good idea and agreed, forgot about the 90 day thing.

If you can do it, take out two year extended warranty, that way you only pay for the 111 point inspection once, you don't have to take the car back at the end of year 1.

Shouldn't be a 90 day exclusion on a transfer.

With a private purchase the warranty can be transferred right away, the 90 days only applies when purchased from a dealer.
