GT4 Paint protection film - group buy.
Discussion
My intention is to have paint protection film fitted to the GT4 from day 1. I am currently in negotiation with 2 well respected companies. Both of which I have used before.
There is obviously no pattern and to do just one car is proving to be quite expensive. Is anyone else here interested in the same?
If so please let me know. Ideally I need about 6 cars which would bring the cost down to less than £2000 for the entire car. There will be other options on coverage.

I cannot bring myself to pay £2k for clear plastic sheet which has always in my experience dulled the colour and finish and the edges either end up black with dirt or white with wax.
If you get a chance have a look at the latest films when wrapped around the edges, virtually impossible to see, much improved over the last few years IMO.Two reputable companies are Paintshield and Topaz.
If you could get down to £2k for the whole car that would be amazing, because even for a common car like a Boxster full coverage is closer to £4k - and they have a template for that already, so you would be getting deal of the decade for £2k...
And as nice as 'no film' is, some people can't afford to respray every week - full Paintshield, 59k miles (fast motorway / cross country rallying) and not a single stone chip.

me too I would NOT buy a car with full cover either only front bumper cover.
So if a car with perfect spec and provenance at the right price came up, you wouldn't buy it if it had full cover paint protection film? Why?Surely you'd have either full protection or no protection. Worst potential case is full front protection only. With that you have half the car wrapped and half not, giving you the most likely chance of seeing a difference between covered and non covered panels next to each other.
No uv protection on film either so once you cover the paint it WILL fade and you cannot polish it back up !
On the plus side if you only film 1/2 the car it will all fade the same, on the bad part, never polish the bits without film as you will not match the faded paint under the film.

The thing about 981 Caymans and GT4 could well be worse, is that rear wheel arch gets hammered with chips and looks like sandpaper very quickly.
There is some mention of this on the GTS thread and I think one person got area painted under warranty.
So while front cover is nice, depending on viewpoint, I think this area might be essential as not liable to fade from UV but will get marked

I'm getting a Spyder and after reading The Animal's post I'd be keen to get this film applied to my new car,
Cool. I didn't need full coverage but I am OCD. Next time I would do the front kit and the rear wings only, though I'd probably end up with stone chips on the doors given the speed I take corners on B roads! The new film is very good and even if you do partial coverage you'd have to look for it to see it is there.
I would say consider your usage and how long you plan to keep the car to work out whether it is worth doing.
