I've just become the owner of a 2009 Gen II Cayman 2.9. This car has halogen headlights, I have enabled the daytime running lights in the computer and was then surprised to read in the manual that the headlights always come on with the DRLs (this is not the case with bi-xenon headlights). If it is of any relevance i have the light switch set to the 'Home' position.

This doesn't make much sense to me, what's the point in DRLs if the headlights come on at the same time? Have I misread the manual and missed some setting which allows only the DRLs to be on?

Thanks.

I was similarly confused when I got mine. Turns out the strip of LEDs aren't actually DRLs, they're not bright enough. They're fill in lights or some such thing. With xenons the fog lights go and DRLs are put in their place I believe.

Thanks, for confirming that it's working as designed.
