10 Spyders for Sale...
Discussion
There's now 10 Spyders for sale on PistonHeads. Are these all from owners with deposits on the 981 Spyder? Is there enough of a market for the 987 or has it now been 'flooded' in anticipation of the new model. Anyone sold recently at the kind of prices being advertised. Not selling mine, but interested in how the market is looking from the perspective of owners.
Five manual cars as well and a spread from £39-50k.
Many seem to be sticking. Potential buyers are probably holding off to see what happens to prices when the new 981 Spyder arrives.
Be interesting to see if prices soften as some of those moving to a 981 Spyder look to shift their 987 Spyder.

So mr gt4 if your car was on the market you would be talking prices up not down and you would be saying your car is worth £55k!
Anyway my car is one of those up for sale and I am not flipping for the new Spyder,I had the option to purchase a new Spyder (1st on list at OPC)but was going to pull my deposit then luckily got confirmation on a gt4 slot if that had not materialised no way would I be selling my car for the new Spyder!imho I would have been mad to flip my Spyder for the new one as I am of the opinion that although I don't have the faster car I have the prettier and probably long term the more valuable spyder! If I could afford to keep and purchase the gt4 there is no way I would sell it but the gt4 is something I have always wanted in a Cayman !
If I had a CR I would most certainly flip for a gt4 as I have always been of the opinion that the 987 Spyder has been more special than the CR hence why I moved from caymans to the Spyder and did not purchase a CR.

I guess relative to the 237 UK 987 Spyder available 10 on PH's is a lot, especially as it's a fairly niche model.
Same amount roughly of 991gt3 in the UK but 50 for sale and prices are over 3x as much!It is not surprising how many cars are up for sale with the arrival of the new cars the same thing happened with the 997.2 gt3 cars on arrival of the 991 gt3 but look what happened to 997.2 gt3 prices £80k at the time for a low mileage car to what?
I am not saying the 987 Spyder is in the same league as a gt3 but it is a very special and unique porsche if it had a 911 badge you would be talking prices well in excess of £100k!

It's been up for sale about 10 days and most want to offer mid 40s but I am in no hurry to sell, and when I compare with the others for sale IMHO it's the best one on the market so it has to be worth a premium over ie a 20 k mile car @ £45kCar looks lovely, a Spyder version of my own white CR!

Perhaps the 20k mile car should be £40k! itsybitsy said:

I thought they would be sellable at £50k in 2015 but the market is a bit weary, £45k seems top value and what I would ask for mine if it was for sale.Anyway my car is one of those up for sale and I am not flipping for the new Spyder,I had the option to purchase a new Spyder (1st on list at OPC)but was going to pull my deposit then luckily got confirmation on a gt4 slot if that had not materialised no way would I be selling my car for the new Spyder!imho I would have been mad to flip my Spyder for the new one as I am of the opinion that although I don't have the faster car I have the prettier and probably long term the more valuable spyder! If I could afford to keep and purchase the gt4 there is no way I would sell it but the gt4 is something I have always wanted in a Cayman !

987.2 Spyder is a very special car but £45k seems max 2015 price. That's just being a realist.
I would love to see cars selling at £50k and maybe they will in 2016, but as it stands today it's dreamers money.
miles is key after the big 4 most wanted spec items which can be seen on 30k miles cars at £39k to 2k miles car at £50k
As I said the hippo car seems best value for the spec atm and nice miles.
And while your is the best for sale today, it's not worth £7k more than that one, if some one has offered £45k I would take it with out thinking.

My brother had a solid offer of £45k on his a month ago (white, stock, manual with PSE & chrono. About 8k on the clock IIRC). Didn't take it, but then I don't think he's bothered to sell it now.
So for the right car I'd still say £45k-50K is realistic.
if he got offered £45k with those low miles, then how is £50k realistic ?So for the right car I'd still say £45k-50K is realistic.
As I said £45k seems all the max people want to go to atm.
It is easier to come down on a price than to go up!
If I advertised my car at £45k and it sold in 24 hours I would have wished I advertised for more so it's better to start high although I knew nearly £50k is ambitious but not so when high milers ie 26k are nearly £47k ! or a car priced at £45k has the wrong wheels which would be £4k to replace. So perhaps in hind sight £48.5 k would have been a more realistic starting price!

I 'sold' mine for £45k last month but when I was informed my build slot had moved from July to Oct I withdrew as I didn't want to be without a car over the summer.
Still got interest at higher price via dealer as at that price level there's very few buyers with cash, they're looking for finance and/or part ex. Didn't leave it long enough with him to close out a deal as I decided to sell to private buyer who had the offer in with me for a few weeks.
Be going back on the market in Sept and given the spec I'm still confident I'll get £45k, it's got the big four plus PCCB and only 11k.
