987 flat battery

I'm considering buying a friends 987 3.4s. As it's been sat on his parents driveway for 4 months without being used it's battery is flat. Whats the best way to get it started?

I feel like I'm stating the obvious but, charging it back up might help...

Lol, worked that one out, but he told me he didn't know where the battery was kept....

I just wondered if there was a remote connection point somewhere accessible.

Anyway, all sorted now, I'm a Googlemeister.

Battery is under the front bonnet in the compartment with the Porsche logo on.

Hopefully there's enough power left to pop it...

If it's shot, replace it with a S5 Bosch Silver (about £90 from ECP).

As above but if the battery is too flat to release the boot you will need to take off the fuse cover in the driver's footwell and there is a large terminal in there that you put a positive jump lead to and the negative one to the door catch. You may need to leave the jump leads connected for 15-20 minutes if it doesn't release straight away.

If you do end up buying the car, I find the CTEK-style chargers that charge through the cigar lighter invaluable - especially if you use the car relatively little.

I leave mine connected all the time in the winter, and if I forget and it runs down the charger always brings it back within a few hours.

If the power to the fuse box thing doesnt work (mine didnt) there is a manual bonnet release in the front left wheel arch. Bit of a hassle as you need to take the liner out first, but its the only option sometimes !
