Anyone else suffer from "Spec Creep"?
Discussion
Anyone else find that long lead times for their new motor induces Spec Creep?
Back in May when I ordered my BGTS (November build) I had settled on:
BGTS
White
PDK
Cruise
Bose
Folding mirrors
Front & Rear parking sensors
Full colour wheel caps
Seat heating
Mobile phone prep
Job done... or so I thought.
By the end of May I'd included Rain sensor (an oversight omission from my original spec).
In Mid-June we had a holiday near the OPC I'd ordered the car from (We're moving house to Devon and my Exeter OPC is currently 160 miles from home!). While we were down there I arranged to visit them and compare White with Carrara White... and updated my spec to the metallic.
And finally (So far...) at the end of June I swapped the parking sensors for the Reversing camera plus sensors.
I'm hoping that they lock my spec sooner rather than later as the next likely additions/swaps are likely to bump the price by a grand or more. Bose -> Burmester or something of that ilk!
Anyone else suffering from this affliction?

Dual zone climate, something I missed the relevance of!
Paul
I hadn't really considered this, as in my current convertible (Mini JCW) the roof is down pretty much any time that the temp is above 2C and it's sunny. Indeed, the heated seats were my solution to being able to drop the Boxster's roof more regularly when my good lady is onboard.Paul
But I guess dual zone climate will eliminate my current need to ask if she's warm/cool enough, especially on our runs back up from Devon to visit family in the Midland's and Yorkshire.
And it's only an extra £500-ish...
I won't add it just yet though, just in case there are any other omissions from my 'once in a lifetime' Porsche purchase.

..I have a Carrara white BGTS and to really create a great contrast I would suggest the GTS exterior pack which gives you front apron, rear central panel, base of door mirrors, engine air intakes and roll bars all in gloss black rather than standard and unfinished looking (to my eyes) matt plastic, and the standard Carrera S wheels in gloss black (partial)which includes the coloured wheel crests. Looks amazing, have all these on mine, together with the interior pack painted with centre console trim, all in carrara white. Links the exterior and interior black / white colour schemes a treat (assume you have the standard alcantara / leather which is what I have.
To be honest the front and rear parking sensors are very good, the rear camera is overkill IMO. I wouldn't have Burmeister, it's a sports car, not a limo, the exhaust gives all the hifi sound you'd want!

In case you hadn't picked up on it, it's not the dual zone that's the significant bit - it's the fact that it's climate which the standard one isn't. Oh and even if you aren't a smoker the smoker package is FREE and replaces the rather useless tray with a lidded compartment and an extra cigarette lighter point. But I guess dual zone climate will eliminate my current need to ask if she's warm/cool enough, especially on our runs back up from Devon to visit family in the Midland's and Yorkshire.

Totally agree with the smoker package -as you say it's free and you get a decent lid over the otherwise cheap and nasty box. Had it on mine - and we don't smoke. The wait to lock down on my spec is also costing a fortune!
Parking sensor front/rear - now changed to camera
Bose - now changed to Burmeister (hope to compare both at PEC).
GTS interior and exterior IMO make CGTS that little bit more special.
Agree with comments on smokers pack and climate zone.
After seeing carmine red in the flesh, now considering it so another addition to the spec.
PEC on 22/7 is hopefully final day to decide on spec.

Had exactly the same problem with mine too..I have in my file on the car at least 12 spec changed before lockdown!!
Looks like you now have the best options covered as I also went witht the GTS options, might as well if your going to get a Gts as these are specific to the car. Mines a Carmine red BGTS and is simply a pleasure to own/drive and drool over.
Enjoy the wait, it's worth it.

My own experience is that you always feel drawn into adding options that you think are necessary, but once you drive the car for a week or two you barely notice them. Like I was convinced I needed heated seats (which I know are a good idea on a convertible) but I ended up with a car without them and after two winters I haven't once wished I had them. Bose is another one that I could easily do without. My current car happens to have Bose, my previous one didn't. They both sound pretty average i.e. Bose is not by any means a quality system. I honestly get better sound from the stock sound system in my wife's Nissan! In a Boxster with the top down, it's really not going to make any difference apart from the £1K cost.
If I was going to spec a new Porsche now I would go brutally light on options you really don't need and I very much doubt it would dilute the driving experience one tiny bit. My 2.4S didn't even have a radio and that was still fun to drive
It also helps to think how you can spend the £15K you probably just saved in the process!

Sounds very tidy... already amended my spec to reflect your external options.
