Boxster racing weights
Discussion
Just browsing the web whilst vaguely considering what I may like to race in the future and I see from the PCGB Motorsport regs that the Boxster weight for a Class 1 3.2 Boxster has to be 1260 kg, whilst the weight for a Class 2 2.5 can be 1160kg.
I understand the reason for the differences but is it realistic to be able to get a Boxster down to 1160kg?
I will never be able to afford to race in PCGB but I do race in CSCC and. 750mc races and was thinking that a 2.5 Boxster might be a cheapish option as it would fit in to the formers 1800-2500cc class and would be competitive in the latter's power to weight class B in their Roadsports series.
Anyone got any experience of building a race , hill climb or track day Boxster and getting it down to,that sort of weight whilst being fitted with a full cage?

There is a chap on boxa.net who started out with a 2.5 and weighed all the bits he stripped off for a total of something like 115kgs. There are also some panels swapped for fibreglass, smaller battery etc. It's a weekend road car rather than a stripped out race car so I would presume there is more scope to lose weight. He's detailed most of the weights and photos there too. I spoke to him just the other day and he mentioned that he saved at least 20kg just from using aftermarket struts. It's now sporting a 3.4 engine too
