Hi,

Relatively new to Porsche ownership so would appreciate a bit of guidance..

I'd like someone to fit (and enable) the OBC to my 986 S 2000. I see revolution-porsche offer to do it for under £200 but they're up near Leeds and I live in Hertfordshire. I just called a more local Independent Porsche Garage and they quoted 'at least' £500-£600. Ouch.
Could anyone recommend someone in the SE that could do this at a nicer price? Looking on-line it doesn't seem like too much work, I'd still find a way to screw it up if I did it myself though...

Cheers,

Matt

Thanks edc, they are still quite expensive (£545), might have to have a day out up north! Even with the petrol cost it would be cheaper to go to Revolution.

Unfortunately that's what you get for living in the South East. Some owners on boxa.net go up once a year and have everything attended to in one hit. I did something similar when I got my second Boxster.

Well what you're saying certainly seems to match my experience over the last couple of days. There seems to be a massive difference. Considering the parts would surely cost the same no matter where you were I can only assume that down here in the South the mechanics a) charge a lot more and b) take a lot longer to do anything smile

My first Boxster didn't have the OBC and my current one does. I wouldn't miss it if I didn't have it as I hardly ever cycle through the menu and I have never used the cruise on my current one either. It is a weekend blast car only though.

Did you ask Wrightune about different options?

When I had the OBC retrofit done there on my 986, the cheaper option (which I took) was to have a button on the dash, rather than the additional stalk. Can't remember the cost now I'm afraid, but it worked just fine.

Cheers Lox, I've spoken to them about this option and they are going to get back to me with a quote.
