Not sure if related to my on going exhaust issue but my car wouldn't come out of 2nd gear tonight when I started her.

Tried changing down manually with the paddles but no joy as you can see from the photos.

Anyone seen anything like this before or any ideas why the pdk did this?

Didn't risk finding out what would of happened if I pulled off so switched it on and off and started second time in 1st gear as per normal

The PDK does this in the Panameras depending which mode you have selected and whether the engine is cold or not.

I thought the Boxster was set up to always pull away in first though. Very strange.

Never had it myself, but could imagine that (as in a manual car) first can be obstructive very occasionally - particularly when the gearbox is new and the oil cold.

Thanks, as you can see from the pic the temp of the car was ~40c as was still carrying some temp from earlier in the day. I have no idea the temp of the gearbox oil but assume is must have been above rest temp as the car had previously been out in the day and worked.

As for the gearbox being new, the car shows ~8k miles. I'm not sure I would consider this new?

So much for that theory then.... Hopefully it's just a one off.

A few weeks later... does it appear to be a one off?

Yes appears so....mind you I've only done a few hundred miles since then so v the previous 8k not much of a comparison.

I guess if it was more serious I would have had some follow up
