Hi,

I took my car for an inspection at a Porsche specialist the other day and they happened to mention that the gear selector housing was worn. Not quite sure what they mean by that, or what part they're referring to exactly.

Any thoughts?

Would a short shifter replace whatever is worn? I see there's a genuine Porsche one, and various others on the Design 911 website. What are peoples thoughts on the short shifter kits?

Thanks,

Dan

Can't comment on what the indie has told you about your shifter, However SSK is about the best mod per £ you can do.

The oem shifter is the only weak link, buy a B&M shifter off Ebay £49.00 when last I checked, excellent kit, it will take a little while for you to get in the swing of it, but once mastered you won't want to revert.

No, I've not done anything with it. It's not that bad so I'm not too bothered. Eventually I will change it to a quick shift kit.

Spending money on the TVR at the moment!

Maybe you went to the same Porsche specialist as me who advised that I should have the exhaust system from the triangular manifold flange to the tail pipe stripped and replaced with new clamps and bolts due to rust, silencers and cats to be re-used - cost for this work approx. £600. I plan to do it myself.

I went to JMG in Ferndown.
