I've got a few cars and as I'm not technically gifted / competent, this should be a recipe for financial disaster.

However, thanks to PH and similar forums, I manage to keep on the right side of bankruptcy.

Example One (I could list many)....

Warning lights for the ABS and Porsche Stability Mangement on my Cayman both came on last week - there's a £2k bill in the making I thought.

Bit of research later and it transpires it could be the brake pedal switch - surely a £15 part couldn't cause so much dashboard warning light drama?

Three nervous days later the part arrives and after an hour of faffing about in the drivers footwell it's fixed !

If I'd put this into Porsche and they had presented me with a £500 bill, I would have been delighted.

Well done PH & the Internet, can now put the money I would have spent towards next year's trip to the 'Ring !

Great result.

Sorry to stray OT, but is your rear spoiler painted or wrapped? I'm thinking of getting mine done but not sure which is the best method.

It's astounding the number of useful "how to fix..." guides there are on Youtube as well.

It's painted (£40) Wasn't keen on the total colour coding of the standard silver car so tried to give it a bit of an 'R' look by adding a bit of black. Nothing that can't be turned back to standard for less than £200 but I like it and no, I havent stuck an 'R' badge on the back !!!!!

Good post. I agree.

I've just saved £1000 (+fitting) for a new alternator from Porsche by fitting a replacement regulator to mine for £30.

Forums (and eBay, but don't believe everything you read) are also a great source of alternative or equivalent parts. And the people who post these things do it without expectation of reward.

I think it's import when you do benefit to acknowledge the source of info if you can, or even offer a post of your own to share with others.
