Replacing xenon/HID bulbs
Discussion
Hi All
My 09 Cayman S (987.2 with the bendy xenons) will be approaching 7 years old in January. I thought I'd look at changing the xenon/hid bulbs before they go pop. I'm looking at the Osram Night Breaker Unlimited Xenarc. These are supposed to offer an improvement over the originals, not that they are exactly bad.
Quick question. I assume this is a bulb in bulb out operation? No need to level or use durametric to recognise/align them?
Links if anyone else is interested:

Thanks
James.

why change if not broken?
Xenons are supposed to last a long long time
The better performance interests me and also, as the law of sod dictates, I'll be miles from nowhere on a dark rainy night when a bulb goes. Personally I prefer to replace things before they break too Xenons are supposed to last a long long time

I think the life is 'up to' 10 years for HID bulbs. I'm sure there are a lot of variables though.
Thanks.
James.
