Colour to sample on Boxster Spyder?

I have just placed my deposit on a new Spyder, but the dealer (in the UK) tells me Porsche are not doing colour to sample. I have seen a few images of Spyders in colours that are not available on the Porsche website.

I desperately want Fashion Grey on mine, but I am being told they cannot do it. Is it really a cannot or 'will not'?

Porsche only open the Paint To Sample window for a few months each year so your dealer is telling you the truth. The window is now firmly closed until probably well into next year I'm told by which time current 981 production will have ceased. They had unprecedented demand for this option this year with the launches of the 991 GT3 RS followed by the Cayman GT4 and Boxster Spyder and it looks like they are struggling to cope with demand hence the considerable delays on cars that were ordered before the cut off window was activated early.
