Hi - I'm new to the forum although I've been reading them for a while.

I took the plunge last week and ordered a Boxster S, deciding I should do so now while the F6 engine is still available. I've now got a late January build with mid-Feb delivery, which is faster than I'd dare hope.

The OPC said they didn't know when the cut off would occur and my guess would be as good as theirs. I'd like to think I'm getting one of the last F6's, but does anyone know more on this?

No idea, but I have an actual build slot in early March for a Cayman GTS.

My OPC seemed confident that the current models will continue to be built in Q1 2016.

I have a collector's special edition, 6-cylinder Boxster S 981 with manual gearbox. It's one the last "proper Boxsters" and I shall be offering it for sale next summer at the very reasonable price of just £75,000.

It's a genuine one owner, low mileage, FSH car and I'm sure the guys with £100k to chuck at air-cooled 911s will be forming an orderly queue....

Have you been given any idea if delivery date.

Originally I was told Feb 12 delivery, but then I added Sport Chrono at the last minute and Stuttgart have now said March - but that might come forwards! So no idea really!

OPC has just been in touch and told me delivery will be Feb 19 - so just a week later than the original date before I changed the spec. Counting the days down now!!

OPC delivery now Feb 12th - time drags when you're watching the calendar doesn't it?

Especially if you wait for the new registration numbers on 1 March.....

Putting a private plate on it and it is a 2016 model, so not bothered.

They are all 2016 models as you say but by waiting till 1st March it will be a 16 plate instead of a 65 if registered before the 1st .Even if you do put a private plate on it come resale time will be more desirable and possibly more .

True, but the problem was getting one before the cut off before the new 718 launches. My OPC didn't have any Boxster slots left and wasn't sure if it could get one. I was less concerned about the year and keener to get a F6 engined car before they stopped making them.

Nothing to stop you asking the OPC to hang on to it for a couple of weeks. Providing first reg is after march the 1st you would still be able to get the later reg when you come to sell.

Exactly. I'd be asking my OPC to hang on to it for a fortnight if it was me.

I was at my local on OPC on Friday. No longer possible to factory order a 981.1. Stock cars only.

Is that just the base and S models? What about a GTS?

Just Boxsters or Caymans too?

Don't know about Cayman but no Boxsters at all.
