PPI Needed on 987 Boxster??
Discussion
Heya all,
Having to sell my 996 turbo to buy a house... and i needed a new car, but didn't want to move away from the brand, so tomorrow I'm seeing a 55 plate 987 2.7 boxster.
Car has full service history and I've spoken to the indy whose seen the car regularly and said that the car should be a good buy.
Question is - should i still get a PPI done? I got one done on the 996 due to the complexity of the car etc, but on a boxster would you guys still advise doing this?
Cheers!

Personally I wouldn't bother, but it depends on:
How confident you are inspecting it yourself,
Which end of the market you're searching at,
Whether, if this car fails the PPI you'll get the next one inspected, and the next, and...
It's a ten year old car so I'm sure an inspection will find something needing doing. There are quite a few checks you can do yourself to ascertain the condition. In my experience diy checks will rule out 90% of cars unless you want a doer upper.
On this one you've obviously done some due diligence, so as I say, personally I'd bank the few hundred quid.

If you decide not to get an inspection, then Pelican Parts has an article on what to look for when inspecting a car yourself. Their cautious advice is to do your own due diligence on each car you look at (they suggest 10!) and then when you have found a good one to still get an inspection.
My approach is to pay a bit more and buy from a good independent with a reputation to maintain.

The car has been looked after by Northway for the past 3yrs and they know it well and last serviced it in November.
It has full service history, all porsche bar the 2nd one done at Ford!
Car is very clean - no marks, dents or dings and is kept under a cover.
55 plate with 76k on the clock - did a deal for £8,750
